I am thinking of doing Serendipity with my preschooler and second grader in the fall.
I will also have an 11th grader and a sixth grader doing RC History, ancient times.
When you do Serendipity, for example, The Alphabet Path, do you keep *all* of your children on the same time period? Is it confusing to have the older children doing ancient history and the younger studying American history? I have almost always done family unit studies, where each age worked on their own level. This would be the first time our histories would be split.
I guess that if a family had always used workbooks, the children would be studying different periods of history, so I think this should work. It is just new to me.
I would keep my sixth grader using the science topics we were using, though. I may buy the Apologia Botany.
My 11th grader will be using Apologia Anatomy/Physiology next year.
What do those of you who have wide spreads in ages do?

Leocea--I am so sorry none of us got back to you sooner. All my kids are waiting for chore assignments and I'd rather give you a more comprehensive answer. Can you check back this afternoon...I'll try to ask some of the other contributors to chime in too.

Briefly, because I really need to be with my kids: The Alphabet Path isn't history at all. Right now, the only history is American History. We're all in it together this year, but next year, my high schoolers will be in their own time zones, my 7th grader will be doing a curriculum I'm putting together just for the young lady she's becoming (probably with some Serendipity overlap), and everyone from 5th grade down will do Serendipity (new plans  ) together.
We've never done it this way, but this will meet everyone's needs, I think.

I did a split this year, with my oldest choosing ancient history instead of the american history. Everyone else down did the american history...I too have more thoughts, but my baby is crying, so I'll try to get back later.

Thank you for your replies!! I didn't mean to seem impatient!
I am due with our latest one in September, so am trying to plan out next year a little earlier than August this year. 
Is there a site or a place to see how the different paths work, or do you just follow it and figure it out as you go along?
For instance, does it tell you how long the letters should take? I know this will vary, but what is the range?
