Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I got my oldest child a scapular when she received her first confession. My 8yo is receiving his first confession this month and I'd like to do the same. When I last ordered for my oldest the place I ordered from only had one kind. The site I'm looking at now (adoremus books) has tons! They have different saints on them, etc. They are all "brown scapulars" though. So would any of these have the same promises associated with wearing them? For example, I'm looking at a St. Michael one that he would *love*....but I'm wanting a "real" brown scapular, does that make sense??

Thanks!!!

I think that it'll still be a 'brown' scapular. It's the colour of the wool that counts I believe.
You can have pictures of the various saints etc. on it as long as the actual scapular is brown.

Melanie - We use the scapulars you are considering. My boys wear the St. Michaels, my dd wears St. Therese. These are lovely brown wool scapulars. We discussed them in this thread on scapulars and I thought you might be interested to take a look. The scapulars we mention in the thread from Rose Scapular are the same ones you are considering ordering.
