I am looking for a pattern. Does anyone have one they might be willing to share with me? Perhaps it can be scanned and emailed?

Heidi,
I didn't really use a pattern...I just winged it. I used a piece of butcher paper to give me something to go by. I had my son lay down on it to give me an idea of arm length.
I made the chasuble so the back is completely open and can be made adjustable in the neck size by using velcro to close. Does that make any sense? If you think of the entire chasuble as one long elliptical shape, the backside is split right up the middle and can be opened or closed to easily get into and out of the chasuble. I did this because I have 2 sons, and one is much larger than the other. In this way the chasuble is adjustable enough to fit them both.
I only have one chasuble in green for ordinary time, and I wish I had more...but, alas time has just not been there for sewing lately.

Thanks Jennifer. I wish I was a skilled enough seamtress to "wing it". Even with a pattern things are not easy for me. I may end up trying this though...

Oh, I wish I was a skilled seamstress too, Heidi! I'm NOT!!! I actually do better visualizing something in my head and sewing it because I DON'T know how to read and follow a pattern. I have a collection of lovely patterns that I have and would love to *try* but I'm always too intimidated to break them open and start cutting them up. If I come across a pattern though - I'll come back here and link. I'm positive I saw one somewhere...if I get a chance today, I'll go looking!

Our Father's House
If you scroll down past the actual child sized vestments, there is a pattern.

Lindsay,
Thanks for linking that pattern link. It is nice to know there is one out there...although now I am considering just a Father Oak option...

I so need to learn how to sew... my 3 yo twins (one in particular, but both, really) spend long hours pretending to be priests. Those already made child-sized vestments at Our Father's House are just beautiful.
I don't want to hijack this thread, but if someone might briefly mention how your kids use the vestments? Are they playing dress-up or are the vestments only for catechesis or...?

I was thinking it would be nice to find what scaled down proportions to use from an adult size. Seems like it wouldn't be too hard. I found several sites that have helpful hints on vestment making. This is when I wish I had a girl so we could do a unit study on sewing altar linens and vestments. Wouldn't child-size be a great start? Or the Father Oak patterns even?
From the Wayback Machine is a .pdf file that includes instructions and basic patterns that you would transfer onto graph paper. Vestments.pdf
Patterns to buy
More patterns but this site has VERY detailed directions and pictures to walk through the process. Really informative.
Church Linens by Elizabeth Morgan is a fabulous resource.
This blog has lots of Altar Guild info.
Google Books Church Vestments
You can also purchase from Holy Needle a .pdf file of an oop vestment book
Out of time....
