Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I'm particularly interested in 4th grade.

I already do poetry and scripture but I'd like some scripture ideas (we're good in the poetry department, though!)

What other things do you have them memorize? We'll be doing states/capitals and presidents but what about dates and major events (this is an American History year)?

Do you have a cool list to share?

I hope so!

We take our dates from the Grade 3 Resource List in Designing Your Own Classical Curriculum. In the syllabus she also had the kids memorize the 5 longest rivers and the 5 highest peaks in America which started some fun rabbit trails. They also did the capitals of the countries of the North and South America and Canadian provinces.

This year we'll use the grade 4 resource list which includes some prayers in Latin and largest states by population and area. We'll also memorize times tables, Latin vocab and the titles and composers of some pieces of music.
