Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

homeschoolers in my area? We are just a loosely organized group of homeschoolers and we would love to reach out and find more of them...how do you find them?   I did call 2 neighboring parishes and I am not so sure that they will keep my name handy...

Most especially we are looking for good social opportunities for the older boys. I think some of them are getting a bit weary homeschooling in a mostly girly environment...LOL!

Any advice?

TIA!
God love you,

How 'bout write up some kind of announcement to put in the neighboring parishes' bulletins? You could have a play-date announcement for homeschoolers as an excuse to get your name and number out there for those interested..

My my quick $.02..

also is there a community calender type of thing in your local paper and/or radio station? sometimes there's no or little cost for those.

List your group at Homeschool Classifieds. We have gotten several new members to our playgroup from there.

Blessings,
Betsie

How bout you all move up here.    We could hang out together and be a support.

Seriously, that was no help... I ditto what the gals said - and check Michelle Grunkemeyer's website. She's got a nice list of Catholic homeschooling groups around the country.

Blessings,

I'm absolutely certain we will - it's a place called Heaven. If not before then...

Does anyone have the link to Michelle's website that Nissa referred to? I'm in desperate need of finding some fellow homeschooling families seeing as how I abandoned some wonderful families by moving to FLA -

Sometimes the local librarians have a good idea about homeschoolers. You could check there. Good luck with the Parish bulletin - I know two of the parishes I have belonged to would not put any info in for homeschoolers.   The last parish I was in was very welcoming. Prayers your boys will find friends.

I should have linked it before. I'm sorry. You want:

Catholic Homeschool

Fabulous resource. Of course, if you an organizer, rather than a joiner, you can list a group on her site as well.

Blessings,

When we decided to homeschool we started praying right away for friends for our kids and support for us. One day, a friend who knew I was homeschooling said she found a sticky note at the local Catholic Book Store that said "Interested in Catholic Homeschooling? Call 555-5555."(Of course, there was a real phone number!) It was just on the wall my the cashier. I called the number and found out that there was a small group of 3 Catholic families that homeschooled in the area. Since then our number has grown to 10 families and over 30 kids. So, I would post a sign of some sort at places like the local Catholic Bookstores!
