Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Have any of you used the ideas from Core Knowledge?
I've spending some time at these two sites: BCP
and
Core Knowledge

I liked how they have history & geography & science spread through the years and repeated what looks like every 2 to 3 years.

It all seems like something that I could easily turn into more CM style lessons.

Jenifer,

Yes, I use Core Knowledge in my planning of CM/Montessori style lessons. I take our cue from Core Knowledge and add in lots of living books and Montessori 3 part cards. I like how World History and American History are taught each year. I also like how they have the Science organized.

I have the Core Knowledge Sequence which shows the big picture of learning from K-8. Then the book breaks everything down into details for each grade.

I've also used some ideas from here. Click on the left hand side for the grade that you are intereseted. They have lesson plans and worksheets to print off if you are interested.

I've used the Core Knowledge Sequence as a guideline to gauge where my children are at. It is specific and especially good if you are designing your own curriculum.

I also use Core Knowledge for things that are easy to overlook like the sayings. I do believe in the basic philosophy behind it that everyone should have a common knowledge background.
