I found a lot of fun things for back-to-school...world maps, kiddie workbooks and flashcards of world geography and world landmarks, pb Webster's dictionary and thesaurus, foam clocks, and enough other little goodies to make a total bill make me forget I was in the $1 section!

Cool! I need to go back there to finish up my organization of toys!
We bought some fish nets in the $1 section that have gotten lots of use. Yesterday was the Dollar store for some bug nets...ds is having a ball!

That $1 section is often filled with little treasures...I keep a box on a shelf in my closet and keep them for stocking stuffers, freinds bday parties and little rewards throughout the year.

Oh I forgot one of my favorites - animal lacing cards. My little guy isn't too keen on the fairy hand-me-downs from big sisters!
They also have storage boxes/trays and magazine holders in primary colors and tin pails in two sizes and several colors - I think these might be $2.50 each.
Ok...last pitch...they have wooden trucks in various styles - cement, dump, front loader...you get the idea!

I hate to be a wet blanket but I saw those same things yesterday and didn't purchase them because I just can't trust cheap toys from China anymore. I know some of them won't matter but those wood toys I can see my babe trying to put in her mouth...
Just my pessimistic thoughts this morning,
JoAnna

I was thinking about this comment, Joanna, and have to agree with you on the painted items, especially the wood. The federal agency doesn't have the man power to test all those $1 items, so we don't know for sure if they have lead paint or not. I'm nervous about painted wood items right now myself.
That being said, I did pick up some placemats and US wall map, and math Bingo that will be fun to use. I figured these are not going into baby's mouth.

We stopped in yesterday, and I didn't think we'd make it out the door.... All the flashcards and workbooks in particular. We don't usually "do" workbooks and it's not in my plans for regular scheduling, but my son LOVES to fill in blanks and such so I stock up on cheap ones for when we're traveling - "just for fun." They did have a great science experiements one too that I think we will use for our regular schooling.
They had some maps and such too that we have some similar enough I was able to put them down and walk away. That $ rack is scary sometimes!
