Has anyone outlined a curriculum for Charlotte Mason kindergarten for the county public school department? We mistakenly thought we had to send in proof of our college educations, but they are asking for our curriculum plans. How specific do we need to be? Thank you.

Here is an example of what I sent in for K last year. The Va SOL can be found on-line to download if you want to include them in your packet. I hope this helps.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
We are implementing a Classical Approach to learning that will meet the S.O.L. adopted by the Board of Education for language arts and mathematics. Our child will be using the Mother of
Divine Grace Kindergarten syllabus.
MATHEMATICS
We have enclosed the current S.O.L. for Kindergarten, and will use it as a guide in our child's mathematical explorations.
ENGLISH
We have enclosed the S.O.L. for Kindergarten, and will use it as a guide for his explorations in Language Arts.
LIST OF BOOKS USED FOR EACH SUBJECT
We have enclosed a partial list of books that we will use with the Kindergarten Syllabus.
Kindergarten Curriculum
Religion: Children’s Bible
Math: Golden Step Ahead Workbooks, Flash Cards and manipulatives
Reading: Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons by Engelman, Haddox, and Bruner, Flash Cards
Poetry: The Harp and the Laurel Wreath, A Child’s Garden of Verse
Art Appreciation: Mommy, It’s A Renoir, Easy steps 1-3
Science/Social Studies: Sampling Science and Social Studies by Rod and Staff Publishers
Kindergarten Syllabus by MODG which includes many creative lesson plans, supplemental reading lists and ideas.

That is much more than I send in.
I think this year I just copied the SOL's and listed our math curriculum. Also, you only have to declare language arts and math in VA. I think less is best. Here is the kindergarten page from VaHomeschoolers.

I agree, I thought I was sending in the bare bones! 
In my district I have a feeling that I might get a phone call if I only sent in a few lines about the SOL in math and english, but maybe I'm just a worrier.
I am pleased to know that you can send in less without having to deal with them???!!!
I guess I try to send in enough to know for sure that they will be satisfied.
Again, I truly felt that what I sent in wasn't very much!
Thanks for the tip for next year Mary!
Have you ever thought about using the Religious Exempt here in Va?

Laura,
I think it does vary from county to county. I used to be on the VA Eceletic list and some counties gave homeschoolers a hard time. It is best to send in what works for your area. I know Fairfax has many homeschoolers and they were fine with what I sent in. I just hope Loudoun is as well .
I have looked into the Religious Exemption but it is a lot of work. I am not good with paperwork so we just continue on with sending in a degree and description.
BTW Glenn, my husband made the same mistake last year  , it was not a biggie.

Now it makes sense to me that they accept just your description....you have a degree!
I don't, so I try to satisfy them with descriptive paper work!
Next year my husband will have his, but I am the primary teacher so I don't think I can send his info. since he isn't teaching or can I? He is the Principal of our school!

Glenn, all the law says regarding curriculum is "Any parent who elects to provide home instruction in lieu of school attendance shall annually notify the division superintendent in August of his intention to so instruct the child and provide a description of the curriculum to be followed for the coming year and evidence of having met one of the criteria for providing home instruction as required by subsection A of this section."
Your college degree is evidence of your having met the criteria for Option 1, so all you need to add is that brief curriculum description for math & language arts. My description (which I include in my annual letter of intent) is always just one sentence: "We will use a variety of resources including but not limited to ___" and I plug in one or two book titles. In my county, this has always been sufficient, but as Mary Chris says, some counties are pricklier than others. Still, you shouldn't feel like you have to go into much detail. The law doesn't specify the AMOUNT of curriculum description required.
