Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Does anyone know anything about this magazine? A friend of mine was curious because they seem to have a Christian message but she didn't want to subscribe to anything anti-Catholic. Any thoughts? Suggestions for other/better choices?

It used to be run by a Catholic lay-woman. She kept it denomination-free. Now it is run by Protestants. Apparently, their first issue's theme after taking it over was "Celebrating Reformation day." I'd avoid it.

Is Heart and Mind still running? That was done by Catholics.

It is still running; the latest issue should be out very soon! However, if you go to the website you will not be able to get a subscription. This is a temporary situation. There are some changes coming with the magazine ( ), but it will be still be in print and hopefully on a regular schedule.

Stay tuned for more details !

Thanks Margot for posting ... it is such a great magazine and it would be sad if it stopped!

Yes. Please let us know when we can subscribe. I've been thinking of that for a while.

Yay! I was going through my back issues last night and wondering if it was going to continue. Thanks for the update, Margot!

I subscribed to Homeschooling Today for a few years even though it wasn't a Catholic resource. There were really nice book reviews and each issue featured a painter or famous composer for unit studies. There were also articles about bringing back the home arts like sewing, needlepoint, knitting and general homekeeping. Overall, I liked it, but it definitely had an anti-Catholic feel unlike a general non-Denominational publication. It changed publishers a couple of times and I let it go. It did have a nice vintage feel that I connected with, but overall I found that I was just reading the book reviews. Hope that helps.
