Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I wasn't sure where to put this....

I am not complaininig here, just feeling a bit overwhelmed and inadequate in my parenting and teaching.

My DS is 6.5. He is a loving, sensitive, bright, handsome little boy with an extreme eye for detail and an awesome sense of humor. He also has the biggest imagination I have ever seen in a child! While I think this is great, and I beleive wholly in nurturing early childhood and that includes imagination...I am finding it exhausting lately. That must sound terrible. It's just that I can't keep up with him.

I could give you many examples, many that would put you laughing in stitches, and amny that would amaze you because of his detail oriented abilities. But I'll spare you!

I wanted to add that he has no interest at *all* in formal learning-which I didn't even introduce until this past Fall. Even then, it was only a wee bit each day. Everything he reisited, and said was boring-so I didn't push it-totally backed off. Some of this may be due to his vision problems. He has worn eye glasses since he was four. He is finally seeing a pediatric eye specialist this Friday. He has less of an interest in picture books now, and is content to listen to my DD's SL books or his favorite, the Box Car Children series.

Maybe I just need some reassurance? Encouragement? Someone BTDT?

Many thanks!

I don't have a child quite like that, though I am dealing with a reluctant early reader too right now.

But I thought your son sounded like a gifted right brained learner.

Some information here and here

Wow! Thanks Willa! That info is very interesting. It actually describes my DH too... he is *proundly* gifted in that way. My intelligence is average. I suppose it's a good thing my DC have inherited the great stuff from their dad!

This sure puts an extra little twist into my HSing plans. I think I have much reading to do.....

Thanks for a reply.
