Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

The sun is bright, the birds are singing and bees are buzy in the first spring flowers. So the children are outside laughing and playing. Inside sit their math assignments, a pocket book project, phonics and Homer and the piano has been silent all day.....

No, I'd say that you are a very good mom! A spring mental health day after the winter is a very good thing.
Nature study and physical education galore!

I'm sure you're a great mom! Here, it's 12 degrees, with a real feel of 0 degrees. We'll save our Spring Days for later! Well, actually, I gave them a snow day yesterday! Ain't homeschooling grand???

ENJOY your day!!!

Sounds like a good thing to me. If you do decide something more needs doing.. perhaps you can just take the work outside.. I remember how nice it was in college when occationally an instructor would find a nice day too much to resist and we'd find a place outside to hold class

I'd love to have a day like that...last year on the first warm spring day we went walking/biking around the BWI Airport Trail. Sigh. (It's about 38 degrees today.)

If you are a bad mom then I pretty much stink, because we do it all the time! I call them our "sanity days" and they are not optional!

Hooray for homeschooling! Sounds like Marianne's PE class a few days back!

Oh, how wonderful to have some warmth and sunshine. It's pretty cold here right now.

Spring is coming, spring is coming, spring is coming...

Blessings,

Well, when they're grown up do you think they will remember what today's math lesson would have been? or will they have a warm place in their memory for the times they spent outside playing with their siblings? I'm gonna guess the latter! Making memories and developing tight family bonds are part of homeschooling too and you get an A+ for that!

I must be the worst mom ever then. LOL

It's been gorgeous here in Southern Cali, so the kids have been in the kiddie pool and bird-watching.

Bad mom? Nahhhh. The whole reason we homeschool is to have learning around us and because we can adapt education to our lives. Adapt away, girlfriend!

You are a FABULOUS MOM!

(When I started reading your post I thought you were going to say just the opposite- that it was lovely out and they were slogging away at the books all day! That's when I look on myself as the 'bad' mom )

Ah no you are not a bad mom! Just look at the other things that are being accomplished :)

I too live in socal and boy has it been grogeous! Today in fact they are outside in the play tent coloring with a neighbor. We did gardening today too and dd played computer games. I think the best part of real learning is learning from your environment so live it up and enjoy!

Well, if you are a bad mom, you have plenty of company! My guys are out sledding and I'm making hot chocolate again. We'll probably do the same tomorrow as we are supposed to get another 3-4 inches. (on top of our present 8 )

Now what public (or private) school can claim such successes??????

Ohhhh, that sounds so sweet and cozy!

Our lazy day included the kiddie pool and lots of sunshine. Sigh. We have to put on the AC to make it cold enough to do hot chocolate and pretend it's winter.

I always try to take advantage of a nice day. It's one of the perks of homeschooling. Good for you for letting them enjoy the day.

Peace and Laughter!
