Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

These next two weeks I want my 15.5yo freshman son, John to take a break from his Didache book and do more of a spiritual/personal/? prep for christmas. I'm not too sure what I even mean but I'd like to have him do something that get's to his heart and soul more these next two weeks instead of more of an academic/textbook thing. I have most of Amy Welborn books that he hasn't read and many other such books but wondered if anyone has any ideas/suggestions of what might be a good tool/approach plan for him. I'm dreaming of something that will light a fire for him, inspire him, strengthen him-build a personal, loving relationship with our Lord. Too much to ask for?? John is a good kid-helpful, thoughtful, loving and kind to me but he is starting to deep sigh at our prayer time, doesn't want to serve as much at Mass, etc. I'd prefer he not be a professed Neo-pagan when he is 18, like his brother! ;)

Thanks for listening to me ramble. I'm sure you could have gotten the point in one sentence!!!

Our Irish priest recommended the booklet Sacred Space for Advent prep this year. It is also available online, the Advent area seems to be here.

The booklet is great. It is arranged to guide you through a session of prayer stages:
*Something to think about daily,
*The Presence of God
*Freedom
*Consciousness
*The Word (daily scripture)
*Conversation
*Conclusion

A few of my favorite things so far:

*The Presence of God -

Bless all who worship you, almighty God,
from the rising of the sun to its setting:
from your goodness enrich us,
by your love inspire us,
by your Spirit guide us,
by your power protect us,
in your mercy receive us,
now and always.

*Freedom -

There are very few people
who realize what God would make of them
if they abandoned themselves into his hands,
and let themselves be formed by his grace. (St Ignatius)

*And one on Consciousness that may appeal to someone with Neo-Pagan influences -

I exist in a web of relationships - links to nature, people, God.
I trace out these links, giving thanks for the life that flows through them.
Some links are twisted or broken; I may feel regret, anger, disappointment.
I pray for the gift of acceptance and forgiveness.

The booklet I have in hand is available from Ave Maria Press, Theresia.
