Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Does anybody belong to a homeschool group that has a website? I was thinking about doing something simple for ours this year where we could post things. We have a yahoogroup but I was looking for something a little more accessible and easier to navigate to share files, calendars etc...?

Thanks,
Kathleen

I highly recommend using Homeschool-Life as a web service provider for an automated support group website. They have wonderful templates designed just for homeschool support groups. We've been using them for almost three years, and their service has allowed us to automate so many things, including sign-ups, calendar updates, weekly updates, etc. Good stuff!

Our group's website is http://www.homeschool-life.com/wi/hfh . When you visit this link, you'll only find the "public pages." We have three times as many members-only pages that include calendar info, personal family info, etc. It's all very easy to set up with homeschool-life.

I realize I sound like a walking advertisement for the homeschool-life company. I don't have anything to do with them, other than being a very satisfied customer of their services. The man who runs the business is a Christian homeschool dad of six little ones.

LeeAnn - I love, love, love your group's acronym! CRECHE - how perfect.

We don't have a group one (just the file calendar section on our yahoo group) but we have one for our state - but hasn't been kept current. The person who developed and first maintained it is now not really invovled with the groups much anymore.

This talk is motivating me again to do something for us.

We don't have a website per se.
I have 2 FREE sites that give very basic info and then encourage them to contact me or join our message board (actual board, NOT a yahoo or other e-list). After much serching and viewing of option and ease of use, we felt this was the easiest way to get the most bang for our buck. There's a fee for the message board, but it's nominal, about a $1- $2 per year per member on average. For our group of approx 30 to 40 members spread all over this half of the state, this is a great source of communication.

If you mouse over the link, you get a brief pop-up of the front page of our message board, but it's private so that's all you can see.

Ours is mostly just an information type thing. We also have a yahoogroup for passing around info and getting the monthly news.
