Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Here's the link to their website for those who are interested. It does look like a great periodical ....

Hmmmm.... wonder if it will fit in the budget yet?

Thank s for the link Mary. I noticed they link you to Yahoo Unschooling resource group. I am on that list, I read it rarely. I am on other Yahoo unschooling lists that I have had to unsub to. I am wondering if this is connected to Sandra Dobbs????? I really have serious issues with her philosphies. I think people like her give unschoolers a bad name.

Last winter, one mom wrote in about her dc sledding in her back yard. Her dh had an issue with them banging into the siding and causing damage to the house and possibly to themselves. Sandra's advice to this poor women was to "dump the husband, if he could not see the dc rights"......Now come on is that normal????????

Just remember, with unschoolers (as with all of life) there are unschoolers and there are UNSCHOOLERS ...

I too used to be on a list that was so darn radical it made me nervous .... but I'm still going to check out the magazine (esp since they have articles free online) and judge from there)

I am also uncomfortable with the connection between unschooling and "unparenting," which is one reason I hesitate to label us as unschoolers.

"Unparenting" - oh what a great term. I have never heard that before. I love it!

I use the term CM unschooly, to satisfy those who must have a label for our type of homeschooling.

And I go through stages of wanting to read unschooling books/websites and then of feeling I need a break from such reading.

Meanwhile, the kids' learning continues, regardless of my reading and of our homeschooling label!

Here is an old thread on unschooling and laziness, which also (kind of) addresses the unparenting issue...
