Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Is anyone planning to use these this year? I am intrigued. I have always used binder notebooks. How will you use the main book - one for each subject/unit study or just one for everything? Also - do you use the ones with one lined and blank pages or just blank pages? How do you have kids write properly without lines?

Marilyn,

I have been thinking about using these this year. If so, I would use them like a notebook, one for each subject.
We ordered some and I was not thrilled with the quality. I need to get some information on ordering from Mercurius but probably not until after the conference. I would get the ones with lines.

Which ones did you not like the quality of? There are some lined/blank ones at Paper Scissors etc - are these not good quality? I was thinking of ordering a couple.

We use them, the blank books work well for illustrations for their writing.   I don't "do" subjects so I am not much help there. We LOVE these books.

We ordered some spiral bound ones from PSS. They were lined on one side and blank on the other. They weren't all that special. Mary Chris remembers Mecurius ones having onion skin between the pages and have better quality pages.

Could someone provide a link for these books? (Or is there a link in another thread?) I think this is the sort of thing I'm looking for to use with my 8 and 10 yos this year, but am not sure.

They are here at Paper Scissors Stone . Oak Meadow sells them and there's no picture but the real person in the office said they have onion skin. I don't think they're spiral bound or lined though...
Here are some more examples of main lesson book pages

Thanks, Elizabeth. I think these *are* what I'm looking for. Why is the onion skin better? Because it prevents crayon/pastel/pencil rubbing off?

What about the ones from Emmanuel Books, "Blank Books for Children" on p.124 in the Fine Art section? How do they compare with the ones from PSS?

I just put in a big order to PSS. I got a journal per subject (and was jumping with joy over those penmanship notebooks, as we use loose green lined paper but it always seems to be all over the house), but I'm not sure that's how things will end up; we may divide them up by unit/topic instead. I want the kids to be able to *find* things they put in the notebooks. When the notebooks get here, I wil probably sit down with them and the kids and we'll figure out how to start using them together. I think it's going to be a process of trial and error.

Angela - what is your opinion on the journals?

... how about these... or these?

I found some at eBay last week, and almost bought them, but knowing how my kids work, we'll probably just stick to good drawing/painting paper AND lined paper, then scrapbook/lapbook them.

... or you may like these
