How old will your Kinder be this fall?
What does your plan look like for this child, and what are his/her interests?
Just interested.....
Warmly,
Christy

My kinder is just turned 5 on June 3rd.
Out of the three she is the most enthusiastic about "school stuff."
Plan? Am I supposed to have a plan?
Probably an eclectic mix of CHC and Mater Amabilis. Maybe.
I had a plan. Now, I have no plan .

Dd turns 5 in December but i'm starting slowly now.
-RS Level A
-FIAR Vol. 1-3
-Spell to Write and Read(just going over phonograms and learning to write for now. We will start the actual material when she is ready.)We are teaching cursive btw.
-MA guide for religion for kindergarteners along with CGS and Catholic Mosaic, when we have titles available
This is pretty much what i'll be doing with dd1 too, who is in 1st grade. She will just be doing Level B in math and has already started the spelling list in SWR. Everything else they do together.

Our K'er was 5 in February. This is our third child to go through "our kindergarten" and I have yet to keep things the same! Our plans for this year are pretty loose.
-She's already doing some reading but I want to do some work with LSFLF.
-Math I'm either using Singapore (not sure on Earlybird 2 or Level 1) or chucking the textbooks and doing lots of hands on (I'm leaning this way but have never "chucked" a math book!).
-Handwriting will be lots of informal practice and some easy copywork when she gets the hang of all the letters...she uses a combination of upper and lower case right now.
-Religion will be mostly Catholic Mosiac, Just like Mary and Bible stories.
-Other stuff she'll do with her big sisters and I'd like to "row" a book once or twice a month with her and our oldest son (who will turn 4 in Oct.).
Maybe it's too loose? Well, it's still a work in progress....but I've got to nail down soon as I want to finalize my book orders by next week!
I'm enjoying the other responses as well.

My Kinder turned 5 on May 15.
We'll loosely follow CHC K plans.
BOB books, along with LSLF, and anything else to help him read
MCP Math
copy work
continue nature journaling
Atelier's art program
I'm still not sure what we're going to use for Rel Ed.
I'm on the fence about a homeschool PE class that meets at a local park. I'm leaning more towards attending, but haven't made up my mind yet.
He has expressed an interest in learning more about sharks and farms this school year, so I'm working on putting together units on both. DS1 expressed an interest in learning about the ocean, so we'll tie that together with sharks pretty easily.
He's very physical and hands-on, so I have to build lots of movement into his day for him. Lots of outdoor play and as many field trips as our infant will allow! We enjoy the zoo, the natural history museum and a children's focused art museum that is close to us on a regular basis. The science museum and art museum are longer drives, and less frequently visited.

My youngest will be 5 in November -- as I mentioned on an other post, he's learned much thru osmosis and I'll just be building on that -- helping him with letter sounds, writing and numbers ... he's a definite lefty like his mom and dad so will have a bit of trouble with writing, but he's young yet!

My K is Katie! And she turns 5 on September 30, the day of the kindergarten cut off here in Virginia. So, by 6 hours, she is officially kindergarten age. If she were going to school, I'd wait. But she's staying home and honestly, she'll just keep on doing what she's been doing and adding more and more reading as she wants and needs it. She's eager to learn and very happy with paper and paints and crayons and books! I love, love, love this age!

My dd started K last year, but very informally, since, like Elizabeth's Katie, she has a birthday very near the age cut-off, so was pretty young. This year she will be turning 6 just as the school year begins.
I figure we got to about the half-way point in K skills last year, so we will pick up where we left off and then keep going from there, like a K/1 combo, as her interests and readiness dictate.
We will be doing a modified Montessori curriculum next year and we are excited about all our new stuff. She and big brother will be focusing on world geography this year with the help of our new puzzle maps.
I think we will also be doing some draw-write-now for copywork. She loves to draw and since I already have the whole set, why not give it a shot?
She is most excited about going to the bookstore to pick out her very own "big girl" nature journal "just like mommy" and starting on that next year, rather than the notebook she had been using this year.
I expect lots of fun stuff next year!

Our older son turned 5 in March. I expect to call whatever we do the typical school grade for the child's age (except perhaps if the child's birthday is after the cutoff date, because I am from NYC and got used to everyone born in a calendar year being in the same grade by default. So far we've had babies born in March and August.)
I don't have too specific a plan yet. The only specific "curriculum" items I can say yet that I probably want to order are Math-U-See (probably Alpha, maybe Primer) and something from Explode the Code (probably beginning with book 3 -- he's pretty familiar with most or all of what's listed on the Web site for book 3, but I think he could use reinforcement.)
He's interested in lots of things. Of course he is interested in the usual cars and trucks and firefighting and construction. And while I'm pretty sure he's not a prodigy, I'm impressed by his artistic skills, especially what he does with clay, and the patience he shows working on his art.

My dd, who would be a K in the fall, turned 5 today. (June 30th)
Next year I plan to use:
FIAR
LSFLF
math activities and literature
Bible stories
Catholic Treasure Box books
I also want to work on habits and life skills.

My Kindergartner will be 6 Nov. 29th.
He'll be doing the Mater Amabilis Prep Level
Basically it's 1 to 1.5 hours daily
Math(s), reading and writing - daily, for 10 minutes each (less for handwriting) - We're going to try Sound Beginnings this year and see how he likes it.
Religion - four times weekly, for 10 to 15 minutes
History and geography - twice weekly, for 10 to 15 minutes
Music appreciation and picture study - weekly, for around 10 minutes
Poetry - twice weekly, for 5 to 10 minutes
Story time - daily, for 10 to 15 minutes
In addition to this more structured time, we will include nature study (Fridays at our house) and art and craft activities each week. We have an art class in our local support group and he loves it. I love it because all I have to do is show up and our wonderful art teacher (a mom who was an art major) does the rest.
God bless,

Angela will be 5 on Sept. 9th. We will be using CHC, and lots of reading. Boy! I had no idea there was so much out there for little ones. I'm so glad this question was posted. I've learned a lot from these responses. I might have to re-think my plans

My K was 5 last Oct. We will take it slow and easy. She enjoys almost anything schooly so she will certainly be easy to keep busy.
We follow CHC verrrryyyy loosely.

My twin ds's are turning 6 on July 6. One will be doing K and one will be K/1st grade. I plan to use CHC, FIAR w/lapbooking, and Math-U-See. We are also going to be going to a homeschooling book club co-op at a local church (it's not affiliated with the church, they are just letting us use the facility). Add to all that nature study, lots of library trips, and narrations, and we'll be pretty busy!

Mine will be six in August. We've loosely done K this past year, but I think he could use a little more in the language arts department. We follow CHC loosely.

Cheryl-Happy Birthday to your Kinder!!
My DS will turn 6 in two weeks.
I want to squeeze the most out of what is left of his early childhood-don't we all?!
He is finishing Montessori Practical life this summer.
He has been in the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd for the last two years. Unfortunately, I just heard that his teacher has a family crisis, and will now only be doing level three.
So this fall we will:
Row FIAR Vol.2.
Start MUS Primer
Start Get Ready,Get Set,Go-from the Explode The Code series. I will then get out LSFLF.
Looking into Catholic Mosaic
Begin Nature Journaling
Play around with Art Appreciation( basically listen in to what DD will be doing).
New this year, DD will be in charge of creating, organizing, and following through with his arts and crafts.
He sees the world in terms of balls, so everyday he will be either reading about a ball sport, playing one(at the park that is),or learning math concepts with his huge collection of golf tees and balls and baseballs.
My little guy is *heavily* into role playing, so for his BD we are getting him a nice (well needed) new collection of very reall looking dress-up clothes.
Very little structure, LOTS of reading, and LOTS of playing.
Thanks to all of you for sharing! This has been fun! I'm looking forward to reading more!
Warmly,
Christy
ETA: How could I forget Homeschool gym followed by shooting hoops 2xweek. He calls it his off-season training for golf and baseball.

My DD will be 6 Sept 29 so technically a K this year even though she seems so old for K.
I have not done anything formal to date with her except HWT mainly because she's a lefty and been writing a ton but all backwards! The HWT has been very helpful.
She's learning to read just on her own and can read the first few BOB books but I am starting some more formal phonics with her since she is so anxious to read more. Not sure if I'm going to use Phonics pathways or At Last! A reading method for every child-I have both programs and have been looking thru both.
I think we'll do this next yr:
HWT-printing
MCP Math-K
some type of reading program
MCP Phonics K
read lots of books!
she'll follow along with the WP AS1 history program with her older brother too.

I KWYM Ann, my DS seems so old to be just starting Kinder too.
I actually had a Mom inform me that what I was doing was called,"Red shirting!" I always thought of that in terms of sports, but I guess it's in Academic also. FWIW, ds is in Kinder T-ball right now-no "Red shirting" there!
Anyway, we discovered a little over a year ago that ds is profoundly far-sighted, with(and I forget the technical term...)his right eye crossing over. This means he has been in a high prescription pair of eye glasses ever since, with his eye doc telling us that if we aren't in any hurry, not to push the reading just yet. No, no doc,no hurry here. Just happy he's wiping his own bum, tying his shoes, and requesting certain authors at the library!
Warmly,
Christy
