Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Can I still apply "Real Learning"concepts to my 10.5yo dd? May I pick your brains?

This is what I've dragged her through....

Kinder-FIAR
1st-FIAR
2nd-UNschooling
3rd-A wierd combo of MODG meets TWTM.
4th-CHC with Math U See and Rod & Staff

We tend to HS year round with breaks for vacations, health, and weather. I am not organized or follow routines by nature.(Working on that however! )

She has moderate AD/HD, combined with a strong auditory and visual-conceptual learning style. That is partly why I feel so strongly that narration would be good for her. She also tends to have what my family calls a photographic memory-as does my dh.( This comes in *very* handy when my menopausal brain is at the grocery store or library! )

This is what her summer(and perhaps permanent?) english schedule looks like:

M-Thankyou notes and letters to extended family and friends-may be in the form of email.
T-Teatime with poetry reading,Sunday's reading's and me reading aloud.
W-Rod & Staff
TH-ILL
F-Free write(Bravewriter)

Is she too old to incorporate narrations of her living history books and field trips?

I have her enrolled this summer in an art class that will include nature study...

I am hoping to order,"The Writer's Jungle."

I am welcome to suggestions...please!

Thankyou for your time.

Warmly,
Christy

Just bumping this up!
Christy, my brain is way too muddled to help right now (I am in the middle of curriculum overload myself), but I am sure others can give you some great feedback.

Christy,
It sounds like you are Real Learning with your daughter! She's the perfect age to start written narrations and I think you'd get a lot out of the Writer's Jungle. Nature and art together are perfect.
I think you've got a plan here!

I think your plan with different activities on different days of the week sounds great!

Sounds great! If only I could get together my summer plan so neatly. I feel like we're stumbling in the dark right now.

Thankyou for your repiles Ladies!

Elizabeth- You've given me a huge boost in confidence!

Maria- True I have her math and english figured out. I too am stumbling- in the areas of history and science. I am in the process of researching lapbooking! I think it would suit her crafty side, and fill *my* desire to avoid a textbooky approach for history, geography, and science.

Thanks for your time!

Warmly,
Christy
