Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I just received this in the mail, and was wondering if any of you have ordered one of the magazines for your older child? A few of them sound pretty interesting, but I wonder if they may contain questionable material?

Thankyou!

Christy,

We've received Click magazine for a while. They have some "nope"'s and a few "darn"'s maybe? I can't remember for sure about the "darn."

Our library just started receiving Ask magazine so I looked through the latest issue and there was something about how all life evolved from creatures from the water. I didn't like that and put it away.

I, too, don't trust too many magazines for the older child. Every author has some life view they want to promote, and it doesn't always match our life view!

The literature ones, especially, I'm not too keen on trusting.

Christy,
We got Ask and Click for awhile a year or so ago. They seemed promising, but we weren't that impressed. They were very scattered to me - bits of info here and there. I didn't like the content of some of the articles, and although the kids were too small to really appreciate some of those things - I just didn't want it in their reading! I cancelled before the kids even finished their subscriptions.

We have been delighted instead with Nature Friend! It's been a beautiful addition. In fact it's the only magazine the kids receive, and they really love it! We've been subscribers for about 3-4 years now. It is Christian in content with a heavy emphasis on God's generosity in creation. I have not seen anything so far that is contradictory to our Catholic faith, most of the content is of a general Christian nature. Does that make sense?

Just my opinion. Hope this helps.

Okay, thanks for the heads-up!

I do think I will check to see if our library has any I can scan through...

Thankyou for the link to Nature Friend!

Warmly,
Christy
