Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Well, this is my project for tomorrow. My dh's jaw dropped b/c he assures me I can't get it all organized tomorrow since we have so many books. I think we will have to wager this project. I'll let you know if I win!!!

I probably should not have bought 179 books at a booksale the other weekend. It tipped the scales into book mayhem around here.

Hey....other ladies love shoes...I love books!!

Only 179 books? What slowed you down? Sounds like heaven to me. Give me a book sale, shoe sale or a chocolate sale and I am floating on air.

Wow!
Let me know how it goes. It does seem like quite a huge project, but very very tempting.
Right now I have the religious books in the downstairs bookcase, the English, History, and Science books in one bookcase, the sets in another, and the picture books in yet another. This works quite well except for the one bookcase that has the science, hisotry and english books. They always end up all mixed in together so maybe I could get away with only labeling those.
Did you find this colored duct tape at Walmart? In what section of the store?
I wonder if regular white labels would work with a magic marker dot on them???
At least with a label they would be placing them back on the shelf in the correct area.
You guys always have such great ideas!

We found the colored duct tape in the painting section at Walmart. My dh just had to go there recently to buy several of the colors because my kids love to use it for making light sabers (Star Wars) and for other crafts. It is really inexpensive for a LOT of tape! It also sticks well but can be pulled off of a book without damaging the book! I'm not sure if the white labels would stand the test of time. They might!

Have fun labeling your books! My twin 12 year olds really enjoy it and label the books whenever I goes on one of my book-buying binges!

Well, I got through my task and the books are organized. I decided to have a section for Caldecott winners b/c we had so many.

I also was able to get some posters put up in the family room.

I was feeling very accomplished until my ds and his friend played "Junkyard Kids" and dumped every toy out of its bin, cabinet, toybox, etc. It looked just like a junkyard!!!!

Marybeth,

Great job with the books! I know it feels great completing such a big task!

JoAnna, Is this software working out for you? Did you get the barcode scanner? It looks like just the solution, coupled with some color-coding. I've asked dh for the software as a Christmas present, but I'd love some first hand comments. Is it as easy to use as they claim it is? Would you buy it again?

Thanks so much!
