Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Blog addict that I am I've started two new blogs:

Amiable Days
This one will be my daily (or not so daily, it seems) list of homeschooling activites.

The other is Becoming Amyable. This one I can't talk about on my normal blog (Among Women) because my mother has the link to Among Women and I don't want to hurt her with anything I might say. It's going to be about my journey towards coming to grips with my adoption and other related things. I warn anyone visiting that it will deal with negative feelings that many adult adoptees share so may not be what some people would like to read. I'm mentioning it here only because several of you have told me your stories of being adopted and I hope maybe someday (when I have posted more ) it might help someone. Right now, I'm just doing it to help myself!

I feel kind of vain using my name in all the blog titles but I couldn't think of anything clever and all the good names I thought of were already taken, lol.

Amy, your forum name always makes me think of Our Lady's title of Mother Most Amiable!

Wow, sounds like the perfect patroness for your homeschool!

And, Jane, I agree with you!

Oh, I'm very late to add to this thread, but I started a new blog in November: as below.

I've suddenly got very random and ranting but hope to get back to normal soon!

Oh, Louise, this is so you ! I love it.

I've looked at wordpress and blogspirit. I love the blogs of those that use these two networks and they were free . I've toyed with using them. But if one still has to pay for memory space I guess I'm just as well off at typepad, huh?

Louise,

It's beautiful! Is that a Bouguereau at the top? He's my favorite painter, heartachingly sensitive.

Nissa,
Yes, it is a Bouguereau. I share your fondness for his art, so pure and as you say full of sensitivity. My favorite is L'innocence. The one on my blog is called Le Repos and you can see it here .

Here is what the critique wrote.

"Though the family depicted in this scene is poor, one can tell that they understand that money does not necessarily buy happiness. The mother tenderly holds her baby with her older son asleep at her feet indicating the joy and peace that can be found in everyday family life and in motherhood. The mother gazes out at her viewers as if to ask how she could possibly need more then she already has, her greatest treasures lying in her arms and at her feet. Bouguereau was a deeply religious man, and the church in the background symbolizes that God rules over the rich as well as the poor, and that all people are children of God and equal in His eyes."

-- by Kara Ross

Don't you love it?

And do you know what has been on my computer screen for the last few days? This! Now it's your turn to tell me if it is a Bouguereau? When I saw it while visiting your blog I fell in love with it and saved it for my background. How's that? We must be kindred spirits.

Oh I love that critique - so true! Shepherdess is a Bouguereau - 1873. The thing about him is that he re-visits themes in his work. Unfortunately, they often have the same name, so it's important to know the year. I LOVE "Charity" (the later one, I can't remember the year), I had "Madonna of the Roses" on our website for Christmas '05, "L'Innocence" (the earlier one)is hanging in my hallway, and I have "First Kiss" hanging in the bathroom.

You can always tell a Bouguereau, can't you? Luminous is the word. They're luminous.

I think we are kindred spirits!

I started a 2nd blog. It's an online journal of living the eastern Catholic faith, named after Pope John Paul II's encyclical letter on the subject, Orientale Lumen. Come by and take a look if you get a chance.

Louise my friend!

How marvelous you are at creating a wonderland for your family to remember in later years. I still remember all your lovely FIAR pictures you sent to me, and occasionally I look at them STILL, and see such wholesome children and such a loving family.

TERRIFIC!

Blessings;
Renee

Julie is being modest - her blog is wonderful! And anyway Julie, it's not what happens, but how it's reported. And you do that so lovingly!

I know this was brought up somewhere before on this forum. But how do you get your blog name by your signature and when you post a link, how you just have a word that you click on to get to the link.
I just started a blog back in Nov. It is still under "construction" I mainly started one to improve my writing and grammar. I have a hard time getting the thoughts in my head onto paper and having it sound the same. I am hoping a blog will help. You all write so beautifully. Very inspirational
