Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Day 10 prayers - two more to go to complete the preparation phase.

(I thought I'd mention that this summer I've been saying these prayers and my breviary prayers on the stationary bike. You can get a couple of miles in very painlessly. It's another way of fitting prayer into your day.)

Day 14 -- Second day of the First Week

Did anyone else find it extremely powerful that the same reading from the Gospel of Luke that was in the renewal prayers was Sunday's gospel reading?

I found the reading was powerful when praying over it in the morning. I remember thinking that Our Lord really wants those who are close to Him, those who consider Him a friend, to knock the hardest in prayer. He's going to let His friends stand outside the door for awhile before answering their prayers. I told myself this is a good sign when we have to dig very deep in prayer, keep asking and to reach out in childlike hope and confidence.

And then to go to Church .... and to hear the Gospel again! Wow! I got the message to dig deep and be willing to stand outside the door (with a little rain on my head) and patiently and trustingly wait for the Lord in prayer!

Did something like this happen to you during this period of renewal/making your consecration?

Day 18

After a couple of reminders on how to behave with others from the Gospel of St. Luke, the readings conclude with this excerpt from The Imitation of Christ.

wrote:

That All Grievous Things Are to Be Endured For the Sake of Eternal Life

My son, be not wearied out by the labors which thou hast undertaken for My sake, nor let tribulation cast thee down ever at all; but let My promise strengthen and comfort thee under every circumstance. I am well able to reward thee, above all measure and degree. Thou shalt not long toil here, nor always be oppressed with griefs. Wait a little while, and thou shalt see a speedy end of thine evils.

Imitation of Christ: Book 3, Chapter 47

Day 19 -- Last day of the First Week

St. Luke wrote:
Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a child, shall not enter into it.

Day 20- First day of second week: Obtain knowledge of the Blessed Virgin Mary

St. Luke wrote:
And they came with haste; and they found Mary and Joseph, and the infant lying in the manger. And seeing, they understood of the word that had been spoken to them concerning this child.

There are many prayers honoring the Holy Spirit said during the preparation for Consecration. If this type of Marian spirituality is appealing to you, you might want to consider saying these prayers during a time you wish to honor the Holy Spirit. Keep these prayers in mind when you want to thank God for your children, marvel at the life within you, or cope with losing a new life. They may also be a good choice for praying for your children before they make their Confirmation. 33 days spent praying for a child prior to his Confirmation sounds like a good investment of time.

21 Day

(I added this thought to the first post of this thread.)

Day 28

Prayers today include a reading from the Gospel telling of Our Lord's Agony in the Garden, the Litany of the Holy Spirit and the Holy Name of Jesus, the hymn Ave Maria Stellis and St. Louis de Montfort's prayer to Jesus.

The prayers conclude with this lovely invocation:

wrote:
O Jesus Living in Mary

O Jesus living in Mary,
Come and live in Thy servants,
In the spirit of Thy holiness,
In the fullness of Thy might,
In the truth of Thy virtues,
In the perfection of Thy ways,
In the communion of Thy mysteries;
Subdue every hostile power
In Thy spirit, for the glory of the Father. Amen.

Day 30 of 33

The topic is
To obtain knowledge of Jesus Christ

Another page on the Age of Mary site concisely explains what we've been involved in this past month.

What to do

wrote:
What To Do
Read The Secret of Mary to understand what it is all about. For a more detailed and in-depth understanding, read True Devotion to Mary.
From the listing of Marian feast days, choose a consecration date that is meaningful to you.
Begin the 33-day preparation on the appropriate date.
Make the Act of Consecration on the feast day you have selected.

"They will have the two-edged sword of the word of God in their mouths and the blood-stained standard of the Cross on their shoulders. The simplicity and self-sacrifice of Jesus will be reflected in their whole behaviour."

Day 32 0f 33

Here's a link to St. Louis de Montfort's Prayer of Consecration

Here is a link to St. Maximilian Kolbe's prayer of consecration

At this site, Fr. Martin discusses some aspects of the consecration according to St. Maximilian.

We have one more day of prayer and then it is important to remember to bring the consecration prayer to Church on Sunday. (I think I need to print a copy and put it in my car asap to make sure that I don't forget.)
