Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I think San Diego would be easier for me to get to than Massachusetts....

Oh, wow. I finally got around to looking at this thread, and - all the links!!! I'll definitely have something to read after Christmas!!

Our problem with notebooks is that they keep fizzling out. For instance, when we were reading all our Helen Keller/history of education for the blind books, I found pictures on the Net of all the people we'd read about, had the kids glue them to cardstock, and then I was going to have them narrate a description of each page/historical figure, print it out, and let them paste it on the appropriate page. But by the time we were doing the narrations, they really seemed eager to wrap up that unit and get on to something else, so they weren't very cooperative. Also, when I took the time to sit down at the computer during our normal school hours to take their dictation, it seemed like my 3 littles imploded behind me. So, those pages are still sitting on the computer half-done .

I have a very nice notebook of dinosaur pictures downstairs which my son did when he was 8, before I really knew there was anything called "notebooking". But it seems like if it's not his idea, he doesn't really want to have anything to do with it, even though he likes hands-on activities and he loves to draw. My dd is much more agreeable... most of the time.

Anyway... I'd love to attend a 4Real conference!!! Colorado sounds awfully far away for me, though... sometimes I wish we still lived in St. Louis! At least we were equally far from everywhere then.

Yes, that's what I'm planning too. A good long sit after the Epiphany brunch has been cleared away. Then, it looks like a shopping trip! . I explained notebooking to my children and got applause - even an enthusiastic response from my 14 and 12 yo! They're excellents kids and love doing anything with me, so I shouldn't really be surprised. But with 4 of the six notebooking away, we're going to need more specialist equipment (maybe freecycle?). I have a few things here for scrapbooking.

I should look at it all as blessing my Creative Memories-type ladies instead of 'spending money', no? Yes, that makes me feel much better!

And pass some of that Ghirardelli, Angela!
