Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

We have Oberhasli dairy goats and we adore them! Very meek and quiet. Sweet as can be and beautiful too. A second choice for me would be Saanens who have a similar personality. Lamancha's are supposed to be exceptionally sweet also but my kids can't get past the ear thing - or lack thereof. : o

We just sold our Nubian cross doe. She was so much more physical than our others. The friends we got her from have had a couple other Nubians and disliked them so much they got rid of them all. Loud and nosy.

Our experience has been only with Nubians and Lamanchas. My dd's leased goats last year for 4H and showed them. They leased from the same people we bought from. There were other families with Alpines, Saanans, and Oberhauslies (sp) but I have no direct experience with them. We love the Lamancha's as they are very sweet, not loud, and give great milk. I am very sure other breeds do the same. (Everyone does ask what "happened" to their ears )
Our Nubian loaner is doing everything she can to get out of the pen - a good test as we just designed it to suit our current barn and yard area. So far so good. dh is happy to hear that the pen is holding up to her banging. Honestly she has settled down quite a bit since they arrived - I am sure it was a bit unsettling being tossed in the back of our Suburban and driven 5 minutes down the road to a new home - even a temporary home. We did add a radio with classical music and that seemed to help a bit. (They are used to rock, but I figured classical would be good.)
My chickens are a bit unsettled with all the new sounds in the barn etc. I am only getting an egg or two - eeek.

Kim - I love the pictures on your blog - your ranch looks like a dream!!!!
