The Saints for Everyday series was recently updated with new saints added. There are more details at the Daughters of St. Paul site.
I have found them to be good for younger children--though the writing style varies for each day...some saint bios are better-written and easier for young children to understand than others...

I agree, some of them are better written than others. I usually look over it first and if I need to, I retell it in my own words.
God bless!

I talked earlier on, about printing up saints pictures for each day of the week that would fit on the Liturgical Wheel that I had shown a picture of, it was produced by Liturgical Training Publications.
I had mentioned that I had scanned saints stickers as they did not fit my wheel plus I had to make adjustments anyway because it fits with the old calendar - I have read the threads about copywrite and I feel that I don't particularly want to advocate to others to buy those stickers to use solely for that purpose. So I have started making my own A4 size collection of pictures for each day of the month that I have acquired from google image searching. This what the sheet looks like this (click on the enlarge button in the bottom right hand corner of the picture) If you were making your own and you wanted these pictures to fit for your wheel pm me and I will give you the sizing needed to fit them.
They are all varying types of images, icons, well known pictures, illumination manuscript style, usual or not well known pictures.
I will continue now and make up my monthly sheets until all is completed, I am MORE THAN HAPPY to email these images to you, it is a big attachment, but I sent it to myself and it did get through ok, just put them on computer file and use them year in year out. I have AUGUST ready to send, just pm or email me, or post on this thread if you would like them. I have doubled, tripled etc on some of the dates to give more variety and choice and I have and will continue to have pictures for many Marian feasts in particular. Plus the usual big feasts that come in the month eg: Transfiguration.

Hi Anne, I'd be delighted to get your file, and help you make more, if you'll teach me how. Maybe we can have alternating months, or maybe other people here would like to join as well?
Also, is A4 our 8 1/2" x 11"?

Dear Stefoodie,
I have sent the August sheet and a detailed explaination of all the things you mentioned, but I forgot about the A4 mesurements, with a double rule (inchs & cm's) I measure our standard sized paper as exactly, 8 1/4 x 11 3/4 so it sounds very close, and so it should not matter when you print up.
Dear Donna Marie,
The measurement across the width of the circle from end to end is 24inchs, each 7day 'spoke' in the wheel is 6inchs long, the first Sunday (which is on the outside end of each spoke is 1 inch long, the rest of the six are 3/4 inch long. The width is like a thin slice..with the width at the inner end at 3/4 inch wide and the outer end (Sunday) is 1.40 inches (sorry about that measurement had put my cm into a converter to get that one) (I can always take a close up shot of my calendar if you want to see clearly the set up - just pm me if you would) also I will need your email, Donna Marie, via pm would be great!
God Bless, Anne

Dear aussieannie,
I am interested in your picture. You liturgical wheel looks so cool !!!
However, I do have a few questions about the liturgical wheel. Does it go through every day of the year? IT is truly like a liturgical calendar where you can find each day on it and pertinent information (Saints day, readings, season, etc).
The liturgical wheel is a very new concept to me, but I think it's really great and will go well with the Catholic Mosaic study we are going to do.
Thanks for your help!
Betsy

Dear Betsy,
So sorry to take so long to get back to you! Yes it goes through every day of the year, it is like a Catholic Calendar, containing the Saints feast days, (not all days are marked due to a lot of saints not being well known, I suppose) the season is known by the colour of the wheel at that time of the year, no readings listed though. The wheel is a fabulous concept, one we have only taken up this year, it is so easily understood by the children, and presents the liturgical year to them at a simple glance.
I haven't checked your profile yet to see if you have an email listed, if not, just pm me with it and I will send August's saint pictures through to you. I find that using pictures in this way, the children are going to the calendar every day then with a purpose and it enables us then to read about that saint for the day - it ties together really well, one being a reminder for the other.

Anne
Do you have to buy a new wheel every year? Reading the website it sounds like you do.
Can I use the wheel from any time in the year? Say August to august or If I start it now can I only go from now till Pentecost?

Yes, it goes from Advent back around to the beginning of Advent, so to start of this year's calendar means it will finish at the end of Novemeber which is the end of ordinary time. So next new liturgical calendar starts with this year's advent.

I've been having fun! I was running out of wall space (there is always more pictures to hang!) and so I thought I might move my wheel, where it will take up less space and in a place it just can't be missed....the main homeschooling unit/cupboard.
It took a bit of careful cutting and sticking, but I tried to match it up so that it doesn't look like an obviously separated wheel. You can see the door handles peeping through the centre.
We have now well and truly swapped over to my 'homemade' saints pictures and I have used the really little Sacred Heart stickers that you find in Trademark Stationery's Catholic Stickers to mark out the future name days/baptismal days/birthdays for the rest of this liturgical year - there very small, you can hardly see them in the photo - but my memory is so bad or my idea of how far something is away is poor, so this reminds me each day we put the next saint picture up.
This wheel is SUCH a bright and cheery feature in the lounge room!
