Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Tina,
I know you said you've returned the DVD's, but I wanted to mention something about Freaky Friday. I have not seen the new one, but had heard some things about Linsey Lohan (sp?) in it, and decided we wouldn't bother. I had seen the original as a child, so we rented it from Blockbuster and the whole family loved it. We've done this with most of the "new" movies which are really re-makes - The Love Bug, Parent Trap, etc.

Good call, Karen. Dh and I checked out the newer "Yours, Mine, and Ours" this week. It is rated PG, and I thought we would preview it to see if it would be appropriate for the kids. Boy, was I disappointed. The movie is rather dumb in general to begin with -- filled with very unbelievable relationships, and a lot of slapstick humor. But the thing that makes me really irritated is how Hollywood thinks it's completely appropriate to put lots of s*xual innuendo in movies that are obviously geared for kids!    OK, I feel a bit better after my rant.

I haven't seen the original "Yours, Mine, and Ours" since I was a teenager. I'll have get that one next.

Tina,
You must have gone to Lakeside, the park I mentioned in my earlier post. The reason so many young children and families go there is that the park give parents the option of purchasing a ride pass as at Six Flags, or an admission (which I think is only around $2.50 or so) so that parents can come really cheaply and take the kids around to ride. This is soooo family friendly in contrast to Six Flags, where you must pay the ride pass fee, which pretty much kills the possibility of taking the littles to Kiddieland for the afternoon.

In addition, you can take a picnic into Lakeside; at Six Flags you must go to your car to eat anything but the outrageously expensive park food. All of this naturally encourages families at Lakeside and teens with lots of expendable income at Six Flags.

Lakeside can do this because they are as old as the hills; I really hope every year that they'll keep on going.

Irene,
I found out in the memoirs thread that there is a book for the Yours, Mine and Ours story called Who Gets the Drumstick? The old movie is great!
