Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Amy -- don't have time to sit down and write out any kind of meaningful post right now, but I did want to say that there are a couple of moms in our homeschool group who have dyslexic kids and have decided to use K12 this year. I think that at least some of the curriculum is on the computer? Anyway, one of these moms has 13 kids and 3 are dyslexic. I know she chose K12 because she felt like everybody was slipping through the cracks with no accountability. I think they have given her some support with the dyslexic issues, but since they haven't actually started yet, there's no experience to share. Anyway, I'll just throw that out there. I can ask her for more details about how they've been with the dyslexia issues if you'd like. Just pm me .

Oh, serial posting here, but... have you considered hiring a tutor for your dyslexic daughter to free you up for the others a bit?

Thank you again everyone. Your collective wisdom is helping me get my head on straight.

I've written and deleted this 3 times now because each time it turns out sounding like I'm just typing to hear myself blabber on.

I do want to share w/o blathering though, so I'll try to be very brief. I've prayed a ton and sought God's peace in the situation, and have found some peace in the following ideas: we've signed oldest back up for Learning Ally and downloaded audio from a few 9th grade texts we own, we are going to try to start some groups (improv, knitting circle) so my dd can find friends and grow in some leadership skills (Please pray we can find a good, free place to meet?? It's next to impossible here for some reason).   And dh is allowing me to throw some more money at curriculum so I have more freedom to pick and choose what is working, and so do the kids. Lastly, I'm going to buy some lesson plans (but probably not enrollment) from Kolbe/MODG because I need some guidance and less pressure on my head to be "it all".

Well, I hope that was concise enough.

Happy 4th everyone, and if you have any other thoughts to share, please do!! I'm still very far from feeling "done" with this whole "gonna die from the pressure" thing.

ETA: I forgot to mention Homeschool Connections - I think they are going to play a big part in my sanity in teaching my older 2, especially the monthly subscription service right now, where we just want to learn and dabble and not be beholden to a teacher or schedule. How blessed we are to have such resources available!

We needed a box curriculum last year and were happy with CHC. My6th grader was able to follow the lesson plans on her own - very little input from me.   Daily lesson plans are included, so she was accountable to those, but she also had some flexibility with choosing projects, so was also able to develop some planning/time management skills. And the 3rd grader didn't need very much direction from me either. I'm wondering if that may be an option for your middle-school and down aged children.
