Okay, FYI - for downloading, once you create an "ISSUU" account, it says to go back, view the document, and then you can click a forwarding arrow to download. I couldn't find it at first, but realized you have to expand the view of the doc to a full screen (the diagonal up and down arrows) and then that option shows, much like the "share" button on iphones or macs. Like when you text or email or send something to facebook. Then it gives you the option to share or download. Hope that helps someone!

I also want to add that if you have a Mac the download won't show up properly in Preview. You will need to open up the file with Adobe Reader.

Thanks for the heads up! I downloaded them all and I am going to use it along with Laying Down the Rails for Children!

So, now that the downloads for the Year of Faith have been available for a while, has anyone had time to look over them and figure out how they would incorporate them?
I must admit, I'm a little disappointed. I thought there would be a little more to it. For instance, I thought that they would offer a biography of the saints or perhaps a supplemental guide recommending sources for biographies of the individual saints. Surely, in the classroom, they are discussing the life of the saint in more depth than is indicated in the text.
I guess I really was hoping for something a little more along the lines of the Laying Down the Rails format, just organized around the saint/virtue. As silly as it sounds, even something as simple as having the recommended scripture readings written out rather than merely referenced would make the program more usable to me. As it is, I feel like I still have a lot of my own planning to do to truly make it open it and use it. Obviously, teachers still make their own plans for their classrooms, and I suppose I'll do the same thing.
I suppose this is why I can't just use a prepared curriculum. None of them are EXACTLY what I want.
I have been using Jenn's list here as well as Sarah's Liturgical Year Booklist to track down readings for the saints, if that is of help to others.

This was on my plan for this week. To tell you the truth, I never downloaded it until today, since I didn't seem to have a block of time to work through it!

I agree, Lindsay. Although I haven't looked through it thoroughly, it does seem like more of an outline or supplement. But it can have its use, and the project ideas look worthwhile. I printed some of it and then got busy with the rest of my planning and haven't looked back. I do agree, Jenn's and Sarah's lists are useful and you reminded me to look back at them. :) I need to edit for which books I actually have. :)

I received an email today that the entire program is now up, for all three years, FYI.

I have planned to use "Virtues in Practice: Faith" for this school year. It seems to be a good fit for my 8th grader. However, we are having an obedience problem. Even his friends are noticing and bringing it to his attention. (How cool is that! positive peer pressure!)
Anyway, I'm thinking of interrupting the flow of the program and starting with "Obedience" in the "Hope" book. If I do that then how do I get back on track? I wouldn't want to skip "September: Faith" since that's what the topic of the series for the year.
Another option: Start VIP: Faith, but also complete "the Virtue Chronicles: Obedience" (casciabooks.com)which we started last year.
Any advise?
DS13 is in 8th grade doing 6-7 coursework.

P.S. I printed the VIP booklets at home. Then I took them to the office supply and had them spiral bound. I like how they turned out. They take up much less space than a 1/2 inch notebook would and cost about the same.
I've thought of buying a coil binding machine, but it's just not cost-effective with only one kid homeschooling.
