Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Going with CHC for 5th and 3rd this year..possibly 1st too. Also going to take the plunge with early/summer school for everyone as summers here are so hot and yucky. Then, as mentioned, we can take some time off in the fall! We love spring and fall around here. Very excited about this new school year. Had gotten away from the whole CM lifestyle as the boys got older...going to bring it out of the shed so to speak and get it going again with the girls.

but there IS one, it is a lot of general Catholic homeschooling stuff... that I think is the "chat" part!!

Well, I headed on over there yesterday and joined. I thought, even if they are talking more about general stuff, I can ask a few CHC related questions. It might be easier to join that group and get some answers than it would be to start a new one. Just a thought.

I ordered K, 2nd, and 5th for my kids earlier this year...

What will be interesting is my 7yo has already received her first Holy Communion!! (t was so beautiful, check the blog)
She feels a call to religious life, so we asked if she could go ahead and do it "early" (she is 7 1/2)

I'm rambling, I'm tired..LOL

We are just finishing up K with CHC, and I ordered part of our 1st grade materials last night. Can't wait to get Behold and See 1 and look it over!

Well, I just placed a big order with CHC for 6th, 4th and Pre-K, so my deliberations are now officially over

I belonged to this group previously, but I just don't have the time or inclination at this point to wade through all the general stuff at CHCchat. That's what I come here for

My thoughts exactly Tea. It helps that I set it for no emails so I just head over there when I want to ask a question. I already asked two and got some pretty quick replies.

The CHC site now has the sample pages up for Behold and See 2.

I also ordered the first one for my dd this year. it might be a little "young" for her, but my kids love worktexts like this... with color pictures and activities (as opposed to work books with fill in the blanks, answer this question, etc).

But maybe that is a thin line... worktext vs. workbook?

That does look nice (Behold and See 2) What do you think of it as a summer supplementary text/living book? (written by one or two authors- and the style is nice) Of course we can't see the whole thing, but I would think we could narrate from it or have questions answered on separate paper in order to use for more than one child. I'd like my son to do some low-intensity science over the summer to jump start the year, while I am busy with the baby coming soon.

anyone know if we can "trade in" the (old) science from CHC when B&S2 comes out?? I ordered grade 2 earlier and B&S2 isn't part of it.. but I'd like it to be...

Krystin,

I believe I read something about a "trade-in" on the the CHC Facebook page. Check out their Facebook page (it was a recent post) or contact them directly about this, because I think the answer is yes, they are planning to allow trade-ins.

You might try emailing them to see - I know they have been offering to replace lesson plans if you ordered during a specific time frame recently.

I'm taking the plunge for dd12 and dd7.

Need to simplify. I'll be modifying a bit, AAS I love. I know for grade 4 we'd have to do something different for Social, as we aren't in the US and that is the main program. But that is ok ;)

I've already got the grade 2 lesson plans, so I might use that for social this year, and use grade 3 social for grade 4, then see what lies ahead..lol
