Here are the details:

Most of "this item" are sold as individual book jacket covers...but there are a few rolls listed about halfway down. Does this look like it's it, Erin? Not nearly as WIDE as what Erin gets....the widest is 16 inches.

There are also some other options, but I just cannot link! Type these descriptions into the search box:

:: Adaptaroll Book Jacket Covers 15" x 82' $60 3 mil polypropylene.

And, in case anyone wanted the official differences between Polypropylene and Polyester when it comes to book covers:

I don't know Suzanne it just works for me, I have to open the link and then have to run my cursor over the whole http, not just click.

It is hard to tell I'm nearly inclined to think it is not as thick looking.

Tutorial on Covering with a Dust Jacket

When cutting for a dust jacket cover you need to lay the just jacket out completely flat. I then use my measurement of two finger spacing around the dust jacket, and cut.

Then fold the top and bottom sides in, being careful to start in the centre and crease firmly.

Once again use your fingernails to press tightly right along the length. It is tricky and can take a fair amount of practice to de-crease the frustration

Take extra care to crease tightly at the book creases.

Then fold the side edges in and crease tightly. Take care where the top and side plastic meets.

However you can't fold too tightly or you will buckle your cover.

Then place your book on the dust jacket, using its weight to hold the plastic creases down.

Turn the dust jacket flap over the book.

*I'm about to show you two different alternatives, just to confuse you further.

When my dd worked in the library they showed her this method.

Slip the corner of your book into the plastic and slide the plastic over and tuck under.

Then place your tape inside the cover, taping the plastic to the book.

Alternatively you can try this method.

Fold the dust jacket flap over making sure the top and bottom sides are tucked under.

Then fold the side plastic under the dust jacket.

Then attach your sticky tape catching the short flap and run between the dust jacket and book sticking to front of book.

Finished product.
I'm crazy I know, but I just love covered dust jackets.

This past week I received some used books from a bookseller who'd used clear plastic book covers from Brodart. I fell in love with them, so went exploring in order to buy some for myself. While on their site, I noticed that they have 300' rolls of 1.5 mil Polyester Film available in a variety of widths (ranging from 10-20"), in addition to their Book Jacket Covers. These are similar to what I've seen on library books, though a bit nicer in my opinion. The covers are smooth, of a slightly heavier weight & do not crackle like some library books I've had.

Thanks again for posting this tutorial Erin. I finally ordered some PVC gloss covering and I hope do get started this weekend. I'm sure librarians would love to have you on board!!LOL!
