Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Yes Theresa! Good idea. I have bags of stuff I have pulled from our shelves that we don't use. I just need to get busy and sell it. I've been looking on line too. I think one thing we are going to do is drop our science curriculum, which the kids are bored with, and do the Outdoor Hour Challenges in earnest. I had big plans to do this but I went with a text instead, thinking it would be easier, and less time consuming. Well, it was, but it is also like pulling teeth to get them to do it, so they aren't really learning anything. The Ourdoor Hour Challenges wont cost anything and we can start today!

We had a mid-year shake-up! After 3 years of IEW we dropped it for Brave Writer. We're only on week three so while I can say that we're having fun, I can't say really how much we'll like it in the long run.

We also gave up LfC. We had been doing both LfC on our own and LL online at lonepine classical. While we did truly find it helpful to do both, it was just too much. The work load was overwhelming.

We also dropped our old religion and started My Father's Plan. It's a salvation history bible study by Scott Hahn and Jeff Cavins. and we love it!

Rebecca,
just because I'm curious, what is LfC and LL? Also,do you have a link for My Father's Plan? I'm exploring some options for Religion because what we're doing isn't working.

Sorry about that.
Lingua Latina http://www.amazon.com/Lingua-Latina-Familia-Romana-Latin/dp/ 1585102385/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1263928251&sr=8-1# noop
The class we take uses that text plus the exercise book and book of skits. We just love it!

LfC is Latin for Children http://classicalacademicpress.com/index.php?main_page=index& cPath=6&zenid=de818351cc2a69d43bef652aba5cf877
Please don't interpret our dropping LfC for LL as not liking LfC. We do, indeed, like it. We just couldn't continue doing both. We did A and about 1/4 of B.

My Father's Plan is a DVD and workbook. You work through the chapter and then watch the dvd. I think it's meant more for a group bible study but my girl and I just do it together. We tackle 3 or 4 questions/week reading the scripture and catechism for all of them. We also use the Catholic Dictionary for some of it, too.

uh-oh! They didn't hyper-link. How do I do that?

Thanks! To add a link, copy the link from the site, then click on the box above that has the world in it. First you type the words you want to appear, like "Latin for Children" and hit "okay". Then you paste the web address at the next prompt and hit okay again. ... if that makes any sense! It's really not hard to do, I just find it hard to explain!

I dropped Physics using John Hudson Tiner's book. It was a bit too advanced for my 12 and 10 yos. Instead, we're loosely following Jennifer's idea (thank you so much!).

We dropped Latin a few weeks into the first semester and started Spanish.

And I have a baby demanding my attention right now. Gotta go!
