LeeAnn,
I can't tell you how helpful your post was. I am thinking of a similar set up.
The difference for me will be that I will use bags (you know those canvas ones?) since that is what I have, also it will make it more portable.
Each child already has his own clipboard and I keep art supplies out on the table during the school day.
Keep the ideas coming!

If you are using drawers instead of boxes, how many drawers do you have? I've yet to find something with 12 drawers. Do you combine or do you just need to full 12 as she suggests?

Martha,
I am using two sets of these drawers for each child. The are not ideal but what i have. If the activity does not fit the drawer it will be right on top of the small shelf with a # post it to match the drawer #. I put two next to each other with one shoe box in between. i really wish I could post a picture but i can't figure it out. That takes care of #1-7 and #8-10 go on the second shelf. #11 and #12 are outside activities so will be in sacks on the side.
The drawers that I found were all super expensive so I working with what I have until I know I will stick with the workboxes
Hope it helps!

Those are the same drawers that I used last year Mimi. I actually thought they worked better than the shoe boxes. I don't like the empty boxes being piled up. I put a velcro circle on the outside of each drawer. In each drawer, along with the work was a little smiley face. When the work was done, the child put the smiley face on the outside of the drawer.

Sigh, school planning was shoved to the side. We have been thrust into some major unscheduled household remodeling.

I'm still typing on my spreadsheet Mimi. We have a lot of stuff for the workboxes too! This is really time consuming and rather tedious but I'm hoping these items that have been gathering dust will finally be put to use. I'm also hoping that having this list makes filling those boxes that much easier. In my "ideal world" my spreadsheet would be set up so that the items in the workboxes all "matched" by a theme. So when we are studying about rocks in science, I would have rock activities listed on the sheet. But, I know me and we either get behind, or go off on some other interesting trail and I don't think things would line up anyway. So, I'm just listing things now, in no special order.

Just thought I'd share how my friend found a cheaper alternative to pre-buying work-box drawers ready made. She has refurbished shelves and purchased runners and drawers. It looks very attractive, this is for 7 children.
