Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I saw this comic and immediately thought of the "messy" science discussion.

Non Sequitur

I loved the Non Sequitur!

My resolutions are to stop reading at the table and have a conversation with the kids instead. I know I'm losing valuable time there. The boys have spontaneously started doing spelling during meals, but only if I'm paying attention. Also, being interrupted while I'm reading makes me really grumpy which serves no one.

Incorporate morning prayer and the pledge before school. These are my husband's requirements that somehow got lost in the move.

Read some Charlotte Mason.

I do enjoy these new year threads!

We are going to spend more time outdoors this year and take advantage of living a train ride away (15 minutes express) from Chicago. Goodness sakes, I met people from China this summer who came to the US just to see Chicago!!! I need to get ds to some new places and shake up our days a bit. I am hoping this will eliminate our vast television comsumption.

Wow. I think my resolution would be to do the exact opposite! If the kids can catch me as I fly around the house for various reasons, we can converse. But one can't fly and read at the same time. So when the kids have lunch, I settle down in a nearby easy chair and feed the little one and read. Multitasking is a necessity in thish house. When I am interrupted during reading once, I remind the *offender* that if he (or she) interrupts again, he must leave the room. Family time is so precious in this family with divergent learning and interests going on that a one-time reminder serves for all the kids.

God bless,
