Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Check out Classical Liberal Arts Academy, too.

There are sample classes you can watch/do.
We are going to be doing Grammar I in the fall. My friend is taking Praeceptor instruction. Her expertise is Latin & Greek - I just invited her to tell our group of mom's (I have been hosting monthly mom's meetings at my home) why the study of Latin is crucial to Catholics and she made a rousing, impassioned argument for learning Latin.

To me - LC 1 & 2 (even with the DVD's is boring! The new wore off that QUICK here at our house.)

We would study Latin even if we couldn't make it fun, for all of the reasons mentioned by the other mom's above - the most important reason, I think, is that Latin IS the language of the Church. It it is NOT a "dead language" really.
You don't even have to speak another language to understand the point ...
Anyone who watches a movie in a foreign language with english sub-titles can plainly see that nuances, meaning, and important subtle details are lost in translation.
All of Church history is written in Latin - full understanding can only be aquired if you can actually read and understand them in Latin.

MHO.............

Link fairy passing through...

And...I found some very interesting points in CLAA's article "Why Latin & Greek must be studied".

Thankyou soooooooo very much for this link. I find Memoria Press Latin extremely boring and made my son absolutely hate Latin. But I thought that maybe done with somebody else online would have been more interesting, challenging and fun.
I am still trying to figure out if CLAA has a teacher online for the kids or if I will have to be the teacher.

Thanks again,

Simona

Great links. Thanks, ladies. I'm tossing all these ideas about in my brain, and will probably come up with a gentle way of bringing a bit of Latin into our home when the children are older. I really appreciate all your thoughts on this.
