I didn't know when to start counting because I wanted to homeschool before I was married! I made a lot of plans then with no one to teach.
But, I clicked the 10 year button. My eldest is 14. I began to teach her officially when she was four.
With a newborn, I think I have at least 18 years left.
I'll have to shout Yippee with a cane in a few years.

We just finished our 7th year ... but as Helen says, I'll be even more gray by the time JP finishes (and Maggie says she never wants to stop!)

Eight years, but I am on a break as my two older girls are currently in school and I have another two years to go before my littlest is officially homeschooling .

I put 'starting next year" since dd(5) is eligible to start kindergarten. However, I really like to think of it as five years since I really believe that I've been homeschooling my kids since birth. I decided to homeschool when oldest daughter was two and we have done some formal work on and off, mainly because she has asked for it. So maybe it's three years?
I figured I would just list us at the "official" point (although by law children don't have to go to school until age 8). Although, I see us being very unschooly for the most part as we have been so far.

We just finished up our 5th year of homeschooling! That's hard to believe, I still feel like such a newbie.

Oh no!!
I think I voted wrong.
Ds is 10. So going into 5th grade so I voted 5 years.
Maybe it is 6? Count kindergarten? Or 7 for preschool?
Or 10-from birth

I started when my oldest turned three and we did Harvard prep "preschool". He actually loved it, but I realize how silly and overly enthusiastic I was now.
Still lovin' this homeschooling thing, though now it's a little more relaxed.

Just officially "finished" our 5th year . . . I put "finished" in quotation marks, because when exactly are we not learning?
I have a rising 10th grader, a 10yo, an almost-6yo (repeating what passes for K around here, because he's NOT ready for what passes for 1st grade), and a 4yo (who will probably be doing what passes for K around here, too).
So we have a prospective graduation in not too many years, which already is kind of exciting, but also many more years to learn at home.

I'm with Helen. I was reading Raymond Moore and John Holt back when I was 17.
My oldest is 14, turns 15 this year so I decided you meant since 5yrs that makes it ten years; but really I was in education mode from her birth.

Only 5, but I've learned so much.
I'm glad that I'm not the only one who sees a positive pregnancy test and says, "Wow, another 18 years..." sometimes with resignation, more often with joy.

Well, dh and I attended our first homeschooling convention 14 years ago when I was expecting our oldest child! But if you count from kindergarten, I'm finishing our 9th year.

I went with how long dd has been homeschooling and that'd be 5 years now. My Math became Fuzzy New Math when I tried to calculate how long I've been homeschooling!
