Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I have finally found some time to watch. I got through Dawn's talk (I love your accent Dawn!) and then put in Theresa's notebooking and nature dvd and it froze up. We tried the rest and same thing.   My dvd player gets hot (or moody) and then putters out.

I may just have to watch one a day instead of all in one night.

Thanks, Theresa! I have not seen it yet, so I was hoping I didn't come off sounding like a ninny!

Theresa! A ninny! Please! your talk is AMAZING!!!!!! I am so inspired after watching it. As a matter of fact we did go to the park later that day and then the boys went off on a romp in the woods. You should be recieving your copy soon. We had to have more copies made.

I have to say watching each DVD was terrific! I so enjoyed having Theresa, Meredith, Dawn and Elizabeth in my living room inspiring me on the journey (while I was folding clothes in my pj's) .

We are so lucky to have such wonderful, wise women on this board who are willing to freely share their knowlegde with us. These DVD's and CD's will inspire you to continue on the home education journey.

I'm sure my MN accent would be quite obvious to you too. It was just so cute. Even though I've talked with you before on the phone, I noticed it more on the dvd.

I have a quick question. My wonderful Mother wants to buy me the CDs or DVDs for Christmas . Are there any visual aids or any reason that the DVDs are better then the CDs??

Hmmm.... I'm not totally sure because I'm still watching the DVDs.

There are some visual aids, but I think the major message comes through with the talking. Unless, you really enjoy seeing people's faces adn expressions, etc. I think that the CDs would be more versatile because you can listen to them in the car, as you do dishes, etc.

The audience is not taped, so the talking is very clear because there is no background noise, laughter covering up the talking, etc.

Theresa's talk had slides and Elizabeth's talk used an overhead (but I haven't watched those 2 yet to see how they came out on the DVDs) and most people held things up, but I think they also also describe them (like Theresa's field microscope). I'm the sort of person who needs something visual to focus on to be able to hear properly so the DVDs are great for me. I guess it's a personal thing. If she listens to other talks on CD, they'd probably be fine; if she's a movie watcher like me, I'd go for the DVDs.

I just realized that there is about 1 minute of silence in the middle of the CD called "A Loving Lifestyle: It's all about Relationships." In the DVD, you can see that the mike went dead, I stopped talking, and we replaced the battery. Unfortunately, in the CD, all you get is silence. IT'S NOT OVER! . Actually, there are a good thirty minutes left. Sorry for the confusion.

A Loving Lifestyle: It's all about Relationships

This topic sounds awesome and exactly what I'm aspiring to do in my hs.

Is it too late to order?

What is the cost?

I have a few CDs and a few DVDs left. Not sure if we're going to make more. You can order here.

Maria,
I gave two talks. The first was about Real Learning philosophy and pulling together an eclectic, literature-based, family friendly curriculum. I spend a good bit of time debunking the myth that we need to have a perfect curriculum or household management program, etc. The focus is on pulling together a sound education program that works for each individual family. The second talk "It's all About Relationships" is about attachment and teenagers and marriage and all those relationships in a family, in the context of educating at home the Real Learning way.
Anyone who's heard the talks, feel free to chime in ; it's hard for me to sum them up .
