Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I really like the rosary idea! Counting to ten doesn't cut it for me either....what??!! Gain total control of a meltdown and my crazy self in ten seconds? No way.

I have a 12 y.o. son and what works for him/me is docking computer time when I feel he deserves it. He loves his computer time (half hour each day) so when I dock even 5 minutes for leaving his towel on the floor he really feels the pinch. On the other hand he can earn extra time (up to another half hour) by reading books aloud to his younger brother. The entire set of the Chronicles of Narnia and the Lord of the Rings books were read aloud to my 8 year old this way!

I also just want to say that beating ourselves up is not helpful..........I think sometimes those hot spots CANNOT be prevented and how you deal with it once the heat is gone matters more.

I think you are great!
