Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Love the Flower Fairies! I think the story is that Cecily Mary Barker used her sister's nursery school students (boys and girls)as models. My dd is having a Flower Fairy birthday party next month and this thread reminds me to incorporate the boy fairies for the boy guests!

That is so funny! We used to have our sandwiches cut 'Cowboy style' - rectangular, or 'Indian style' - triangles. Oh, the differences between being raised in the wild west of the US and Britian!

Oh, yes, it's all terribly civilised here

Just wanted to add that yes, fairies can be boys (thanks Theresa) -- we went to a local amateur opera performance yesterday, which reminded me -- Oberon, who is of course king of the fairies!

I'm reading a great book aloud to my boys called
In the Kingdom of Fairies. It's a memoir written for adults, but with very little editing (I edited the part about the brother not believing in tooth fairies and there was a very small mention of a break in in the neighborhood) we are having an enjoyable read.

The book is about a young girl who discovers an old burnt down chimney near her vacation home and forms a friendship with an elderly neighbor. The girl corresponds with a fairy (written by the elderly neighbor -- but my boys haven't quite picked up on this) and the neighbor explains about Shakespeare and all sorts of interesting things. It's really beautiful.

Now I haven't finished it yet, so don't hold me accountable for the ending. The review on Amazon does it better justice.

Yes, they do exist. I create fairies on my computer using Poser and Photoshop. I make mostly girl fae but little boys sneak in now and again. *smile*
