Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Since there is not a great deal out there about St. Valentine, wanted to recommend this short (30 minutes) and sweet movie about him. I found it at netflix.

"The First Valentine"

Young Tess is only 13 and very shy when, on Valentine's Day, she discovers a new meaning for love. Through a special book, she meets the third century martyr St. Valentine and his Christian friends. They show her what it means to love others as Jesus loves us and to receive that love in return. Jonathan Farwell and Kaleena Kiff star in this inspiring story of the origin of Valentine's Day that will be cherished year-round.

(me again) A little low on production quality, but high on heart. I think it will help children to remember him on Valentines Day.

Also, I am going to make dh a homemade Valentine with this quote from a book I'm reading, _Hannah Coulter_ by Wendell Berry (from page 110):

The room of love is another world. You go there wearing no watch, watching no clock. It is the world without end, so small that two people can hold it in their arms, and yet it is bigger than worlds on worlds, for it contains the longing of all things to be together, and to be at rest together. You come together to the day's end, weary and sore, troubled and afraid. You take it all into your arms, it goes away, and there you are where giving and taking are the same, and you live a little while entirely in a gift. The words have all been said, all permissions given, and you are free in the place that is the two of you together. What could be more heavenly than to have desire and satisfaction in the same room?

For my children, I am going to make them Valentines with Scripture containing the word heart,

Psalm 51:10 Create in me a pure heart, O God,
and renew a steadfast spirit within me.
or
Psalm 19:8 The precepts of the LORD are right,
giving joy to the heart.
The commands of the LORD are radiant,
giving light to the eyes.

What are your plans?
