When I joined 4 Real Learning I didn't at first realize that it was a Catholic forum. I found the link on a blog while reading about Charlotte Mason and I was so thrilled to have found somewhere to go to meet and talk with other homeschooling families who embraced the Charlotte Mason method of Education. Being here at 4 Real Learning has not been a problem, but there are times when I feel like an outsider and please be assured that it has been nothing that any of you have said or done. You all have been so welcoming and I've enjoyed getting to know you both here and at your blogs. Visiting here has become a daily stop for me. Its just that sometimes our beliefs seem so far apart and yet my entire family is still Catholic and It is still very much a part of me.
The 4 Real Learning forums have such a sense of community and family and I see all the time and love that goes into your education for you children and while I grew up as a Catholic and in the Catholic schools (1st-11th grade) I don't remember learning or hearing about all the things I have since coming here (wow... that was such a run-on sentence!).
Anywhooo.... not sure why I even posted this. I am not a Catholic anymore but I am FOREVER grateful for the foundation that my Catholic upbringing has given me. It is truly a big part of who I am today. A saved by grace born again Christian and I hope that even though there are differences in our personal beliefs that I can remain here as a member.
I also want to commend each of you for taking the time to teach and bring your children up in your faith. Growing up in a town where there was the Catholic school there have never been any Catholic homeschoolers that I have known until this last year when a friend of mine decided to homeschool. I've passed along some of your blogs to her although I don't know if she has visited them.
Alrighty... I think I've bumbbled this post along quite enough.  I'm not even sure if there was a point or if it made sense. Bottom line... even though I sometimes feel a distance I have learned so much from all of you. Thank you.

I'm glad you posted, Theresa! I think many of us here, grew up with watered down teachings of the faith, are converts or reverts. We have had to learn the faith along with our children. What a joy! What riches!
It's nice to know that our love for the faith does not make you too uncomfortable to stay.

Theresa, I have mentioned this same thing to other women on this forum. I think I even posted about it on my blog.
I, too am a *cradle* Catholic, and went through 13+ years of Catholic schools (including 4 yrs of all girl high school in St. Paul).
You would think that I would be *filled to the brim* with Catholic knowledge, but I'm not. I read alot of these topics and ask myself what are they talking about?? Because I don't have a clue!
I appreciate all the comments you have left for me, and I think you have some great insights. I'm glad you are staying here with us.
And it's not just because we share the same state!

Theresa, it never even occurred to me that you were or weren't Catholic. I am certainly glad you are here to contribute your beautiful thoughts and ideas and even happier that you aren't planning on going anywhere.

Theresa, I am so glad you feel comfortable here. Two of my closest IRL friends are Protestant and I think we constantly find we have much in common and much to learn from each other.

We had a great homily yesterday on Christian unity. Father Mark talked about finding common ground and celebrating things that we share...it was just the homily I'd been needing...he also told a story about how two Jehovah's Witnesses came to his (Franciscan!) community's front door. Father Mark's point, of course, is that all Christians are trying to get to Heaven as God wants us too, and that we should bear that very important idea in mind as we continue our daily relationships with others.
And when, God willing, we're all in Heaven at the great Homeschool Homecoming Tea, I'll be thrilled to give you a huge hug, Theresa!

Thank you. Thank you Everyone. My Catholic upbringing and the fact that my entire family is still Catholic is a big part of my life.
When my sister passed away four years ago, I felt so much comfort at the mass for her funeral. Maybe it was the "familiar"... But I also had peace knowing that in my relationship with Jesus that I could worship and praise Him anywhere and in any situation.
If there are times when my posts may seem off according to doctrine of the Catholic faith, I want you to know that I will never (never) do anything to cause strife or discord to this forum and anything that I have spoken will be in love and in accordance with the Scriptures.
BTW ~ just for fun the other night I went through all my prayers that I had learned as a child and I can still say them all from memory. I can also still recite most of the Mass with Father.
