Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

My almost seven yo dd and I are going to watch Joan of Arc this afternoon. 1948 version starring Ingrid Bergman. Is it appropriate for a child? I'm worried about excessive violence-war scenes, executions, burnings at the stake, etc.

I don't remember the movie very well but my 14 yo daughter said the battles were a little scary for little guys.

We just finished it-it was a great film. Bergman was wonderful-even though she was 33 I was convinced she was 15! No blood and gore-the Battle of Orleans scene was short and that was it for battle scenes. The execution scene was well-done. My almost 7 yo enjoyed it and sat through all 146 minutes without a problem. She's still in the concrete "good guys and bad guys" phase so sorting out all the "teams" (French, Burgundian, English, the Church, Charles VII who was good then bad) took some discussion. But overall it was a good movie experience and we will be buying it to watch it again.
