Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I'm always impressed with the great ideas that come from this resourceful group of women. I've been struggling lately with trying to figure out what to do with my appliance paperwork and it finally dawned on me that these are the people to ask!

So...where do you store your appliance information? I've always used an accordian folder or file cabinet but some the stuff is just too big like those thick cell phone books, for example.

Any suggestions? Thx!

Brenda, look online and see if the handbooks are available. Our cell phone book is so we pitched it. Dh does a lot of work around the marina for others and has found tons of handbook info through the internet.
Just one idea...

We had one drawer where all the stuff was dumped (when it was just me and I actually threw away a lot of that stuff when I bought appliances, etc. but dh had detailed and organized records of everything from the time of purchase to it's demise. Anyways, at first we had a neat portion and messy in the drawer portion - not a good idea as we had to sort through all that stuff to find info about years of appliances, etc. when we sold our house. We found piles of instructions for items that were long since gone - so there was a Lot of sorting and tossing at first.

On a house hunting trip, we saw a notebook put together by the realtor. This was really inspiring - so we went back and made one for our house. Basically we just bought 3 ring binder, the 8 1/2 by 11 photo pocket pages that go in 3 ring binders and then placed all the users guides, warranty information, etc. in this binder for the new owner of our home. We even found the original copy from the builder that indicated exactly what kind and color of paint was used on the exterior of the house (interior paint had changed color but we added in information on a notebook page for them) as well as a graph of utility costs, etc.

Now we just need to update the one left at our new house for us to include our appliances that don't stay with the house. (Since all the infor is in 3 ring binder sheets, it is easy to move pages that don't stay with the house to a new notebook to take with you.) Any sales receipts needed to prove date of purchase are tucked in with the warranty information.

Can't you tell who the organizer in our house is? My dh has always been tons neater and more organized than I (the garage was always more immaculate than the house until the kids and I started using it )and since house maintenance and use/repair of appliances is his domain - this is probably the only area in our house that is organized. I don't even read the instruction manuals so it even stays relatively organized over the years as long as I remember to give him the booklets, etc. of anything I've purchased.

We did this same thing! It has worked out great. It's the widest 3 ring binder you can buy (3"?) with lots of clear pocket pages. The whole thing lives on the top shelf of my closet and it's very easy to reference. It's one of the few things that I actually have organized!

We file ours in labeled manila file folders in a hanging file drawer. There is a label for each room of the house, so the high chair product manual goes in the kitchen folder, etc.

Thanks everyone for the great suggestions. I love the binder suggestion and the hanging folders. We were busting out of our pendaflex folder so something had to be done...
