I joined Instagram a month or so ago which is so entertaining for my teens - meaning they laugh and roll their eyes every time I say that I am going to put something up! I don't do Facebook and I barely get on Pinterest, although it was very helpful when we re-did our front yard.
Anyway, I am following Stefoodie on Instagram and it is fun! Would love to follow anyone else who wants to be followed. :)

I feel old. I don't get it. Is it just people posting pictures? Or is it like FB only with lots of picture expectation or?
I sorta want to revive my blog. Does anyone blog anymore? I used to keep my blog mostly for the picture archive...

Ugh. That came off as a Debbie downer and I didn't intend it that way. Sincerely confused and curious. I'm open to ditching FB. I don't do much there anyways. And I don't put pictures on FB very often or for very long.

Well Erica you already follow me over there  but to answer Martha, yes it is posting pics.
I love instagram, I've never been a fb person, though have kept my blog going all these years. I am finding instagram is a lovely community. It's been good to inspire me to pick up my camera and take pics more. I also follow some fantastic photographers whose style I love and they give me ideas and inspiration.

Martha, if you are visual and like certain bloggers, it can be a fun place. They will post a pic with a caption or snippet that maybe wasn't enough for a full post but was just a little idea, observation, funny story, find, etc...

Those of you who use Instagram and blog, can you picture link on your blog to your Instagram pictures? For example if I posted a picture of the scarf I just finished knitting, can I upload it from Instagram to my blog like I used to do with flicker?

I am not sure about your last question, Martha. I feel old too! But Instagram has been fun and easy to use. I don't enjoy Facebook. I'm not exactly sure why except that visually it is too busy for me. I don't like the format where I can't tell if something was posted or forwarded, etc. Instagram is visually very nice. Just scroll, look. Some commenting and exchanges happening. If feels friendly.
I started following you, Jenny, before I saw your post above. Erin, I loved seeing your vacation pictures! I will start following you too, Lindsay. :)

Well some people don't like to upload direct to their blog for various reasons. It's not a problem for me. But I was wondering if, for example, I could link on Instagram to my blog and that way pic from my blog would show up on Instagram. I made a user name ( Cafeknitted) and have been playing with Instagram a bit. I don't think I can "capture" pictures from there to my blog or from my blog to there. I might make my Instagram account private so people will have to ask to view it. I find that makes FB a lot easier manage than anonymous interactions.
Honestly I'm not sure I'm Instagram worthy. I'm taking shoddy iPhone pictures and my editing is pretty much a quick crop or maybe more exposure to see it better. No fancy camera or artful layouts or more than maybe a minute spent editing. We don't have a single actual camera in this house other than the iPhones. A graphic artist pro with PR skills I am not.

I believe you can upload a widget onto your blog with wordpress.org that showcases your latest instagram pics. I assume you are wordpress.com, so not quite sure

On your insta account you can have your blog address. Then say when you publish a post you can say on a pic, 'chatting about x and Y on blog today, address in profile" but you have to manually share/upload the pic from blog.

I'm having a lot of trouble navigating Instagram for some reason. Feeling a bit dumb. I can't find anywhere to do that. I'm going to have more coffee and see if that helps me.

Martha, my pictures are just from my phone. There might a few that were taken on someone's camera and uploaded, but there is no editing, nothing fancy.

I am loving that ladies I am following on Instagram are here and have been here forever! I was too slow to make the connection before. Hi Celeste! :)
Martha, did you take the plunge? My kids basically set it up it for me and help me with things like a collage, etc. Otherwise, it is super simple to use and to control.
