Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Hi Friends!

I wanted to let you know about a homeschooling retreat that I am helping coordinate in Grand Rapids, MI. It’s called “Grace Gathering” and is NOT a conference, but really a retreat day geared to home educating mamas.

It takes place Saturday, June 27th, at St. Isidore’s Catholic Church. We start in the morning with breakfast, a spiritual talk by one of our holy, wonderful priests, followed by a homeschooling talk by Amy Kalscheur. Amy is a hs’ing mom of 8, breast cancer survivor, and author. She is very witty and engaging. Amy’s background is in education, and she is passionate about encouraging the hs’ing mom. We are having lunch catered, and then have another talk by Amy, more a “this is how I do it” with Q&A time. We’ve built in plenty of time for Adoration, (we have a 24 hr Adoration Chapel), Confession, networking, perusing the used book sale, (bring your books to sell!) and of course....lots of CHOCOLATE!!! Last year was our first year, and we had about 45 women attend and it was, from their feedback, very enjoyable and relaxing. Here’s the link to the blog for more information....and the link to register is at the blog.

Grace Gathering Day Retreat

I would LOVE to see new faces! Moms who are new, well seasoned, or just wondering about Catholic home education are welcomed, and their babies.

Questions?

I would be there in a heartbeat if I could finagle it. We just might be in Grand Rapids but later in the summer or fall depending on my Grace's plans to enter somewhere (where is the question).

I put on something very similar here in San Diego and it has been a blessing for all the moms who attend. It is considered a retreat as well and it is always in Advent.

Good luck with yours! Its sounds wonderful! Love the title too.

I was so excited to hear about this "Grace Days" movement promoted by Maureen Wittmann and MIchele Quigley. Your Grand rapids one sounds awesome. We are hoping to do this here as well later in the year. And Erica was the first one I thought of - as the retreats she mentioned have always sounded so wonderful and fit this purpose. I am excited to see this initiative taking place. We homeschooling moms need it...
