Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

We will once again be visiting family in the US this summer. We will be in Florida and in the southwest. Besides Bryce Canyon and the beach we want to visit pilgrimage sites or faithful women's convents.
I found the Poor Clares of Roswell near Pheonix online. It is not so easy as I thought to find out this info online.
Maybe some of you have ideas???

From Pueblo, CO to San Diego, CA (Hello Erica!)
We will be in south Florida, but are willing to drive a couple of hours for a day trip.

I have always wanted to see the spiral staircase at Loretto.
The sisters there had faith!

That might be a bit out of your way, though

Loretto

The more faithful orders either belong to
http://religiouslife.com/vocation-search-by-location
or
http://cmswr.org/member-communities
both of which you can search by state/location.
Benedictine's are more likely to have facilities for guests. Many Carmelite/Poor Clare orders don't belong to any such organization.

Email the vocation director at the sites, asking for suggestions and mention that you have a daughter who is at the age where she is starting to discern. Discerning doesn't really mean feeling directly called to religious life....everyone should discern when they are teens/young adults.

I have emailed diocese that were in the area we were visiting, asking for suggestions. Online sites often mention shrines that are just a picture in a church, whereas the diocese can tell you which are the bigger shrines and also some that often aren't linked online.

Anticipating that if your route is Pueblo to San Diego - Santa Fe would be right on your route, Stephanie.

Just a note that the Chapel of Loretto and the staircase are part of a secular museum/hotel now. No longer a consecrated sacred space, which is so sad to me... - beautiful though and such a miraculous story. Santa Fe also has the Oldest Church in the US (San Miguel - still a functioning church), the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Cross of the Martyrs (old) & Cross of the Martyrs (new), La Conqistadora -the oldest statue of Our Lady in the US is in the Cathedral of St. Francis.

Santuario de Chimayo north of Santa Fe - a major pilgrimage site of the southwest.

In Colorado: it is off the route (a couple hours southwest of Pueblo) but the Shrine of the Stations of the Cross is really neat. There is a Bed & Breakfast there as well that used to be the old convent - El Convento.
Trinidad, which is south of Pueblo just before the New Mexico border was home for awhile to Sr. Blandina Segale - Servant of God, whose cause for beatification was recently opened. I don't know that there are any historic sites associated with her, but it is neat to know as you pass through the town.
