Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

My son and some friends will be in England soon and they would like to see London and also go up to the lake district (Swallows and Amazons forever!). Is there a cost effective way for them to do this? They seem to think rail will be expensive.

When I was a student there we used the National Express coach service (bus) - much cheaper than the rail. They can also check for cheaper saver rates on the rail.

For traveling around London (and the counties around) I am sure that they can get special day saver rates on the Underground - probably for off peak travel.

The train prices from Paris to Lisieux were very reasonable when I recently checked. That's all I know. :)

The Lake District is a pretty long way from London . . . coach probably is cheaper, and more likely to go to more of the places they want to go. What about hiring a car?

Sally

eta: Oh, I see that they're pretty young? Might not be able to hire a car. Coach will take a long time, but may be the best way to go.

Thank you for the suggestions! I will tell them to look into coach and ask if they've looked for saver rates on the rail. I don't know about a car, but will suggest that too.
