Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Congratulations to your nephew-in-law! Don't worry, he will have many opportunities to vote and they will all be important!

If he lives in a place where he can fly the American flag, you could get him a flag of his own (or you could do that anyway). If a delayed gift is okay, you can contact the US Capitol and get him a flag that was flown over the Capitol building. (It costs money, but not too much, considering the symbolism of a gift like that.)

If he likes music - band music in particular - you could get him a CD of Sousa marches...totally American and traditional. If folk music is more his style, you could go for a CD of traditional American songs (the Smithsonian has produced a few CDs like this). (If he's more of a rocker, and if you like this sort of thing, Neil Young and Crazy Horse's "Americana" revisits some of these traditional songs...in a Crazy Horse sort of way...I've heard a few cuts off this CD, liked some and really didn't like others, so you'd have to make your own assessment of this CD.)

You could go for a more formal gift, like an American flag pin for his lapel - he might not use it much now, but when he's older he could wear it on a sport coat or suit jacket.
