Would any of you be willing to share how you organize your books in your Kindle or Nook (I'm assuming it's similar in that you can put things in folders, etc).
I have downloaded a zillion (that's the scientific term  ) free books and PDFs for school and personal use, but many of them are just floundering around and I have to search to find things - plus I simply forget what is there! I have some folders, but I don't think I'm utilizing it all well.
I learn by observing, so give me a virtual peak into your Kindles/Nooks/e-readers.

I leave a lot in the cloud or whatever...I don't know how to organize that, which is a problem for me. I put the ones I keep on the kindle in folders...fiction, history, recipes, games, etc. My DD is more particular and has things like school/history, school/religion, religiousfiction, historicfiction, reading, finished, future... She doesn't like any titles on the main page;)

I just have folders by genre, plus a "current reads" folder for the books I am, well, currently reading!LOL!
Lets see. I have:
Current reads
current read-alouds
ancient
classics
modern lit
childrens lit
religion
childrens religion
science
nature
children's nature
history
historical fiction
children's history
poetry
art and music appreciation
self help
reference
sample chapters
When I add a title, I put it into one of the folders, where it stays. If I choose to read it right away, it also goes into current reads. When I finish it, I delete it from current reads, but it still stays in the proper genre folder.
I can see that I am going to have to add a new category here and there as folders become too full and awkward to navigate. Modern lit is one I will likely split soon, as well as science and nature. Classic lit I will probably split into country of origin when I get the time (American, British, etc).

OK, here's my confession: I haven't really organized the Fire yet. maybe because the visuals there make it easy to scroll through and find whatever it is I'm looking for? and maybe because the kids use it more than I do?
I'm also keeping more in the Cloud this time around; my first Kindle was so jampacked even when organized it got unwieldly because I rarely removed books (sort of like real life ) but like ctrivette mentioned, the Cloud can't really be organized. (or if it can, I haven't figured it out yet. anybody else know?)
I'm also trying to simplify more and remove books once I've read them if they're not worth hanging onto. so on my little ad-supported Kindle ("BabyKin") I only keep the books I'm currently reading. if I want to keep them permanently on the device, I have folders broken up by genres (faith, non-fiction, mystery, sci-fi, funny stuffs, etc., and the always popular "warm fuzzy feel goods" in which I hide the romances  ) or by author collections. this is relatively simple because it's primarily my personal reader.
but looking at Theresa's list makes me realize I really must utilize the kid options more ...

Thanks all of you! I am inspired. I guess I wasn't thinking you could put titles into more than one folder, which kind of left me paralyzed. ("But it's children's lit! And science! Ahh!")
Since a few kids borrow my kindle I think I'll make folders for each of them too, at least a "read soon" kind of thing.
