I haven't looked into it for blogger (I'm only on wordpress now), but I joined feedburner because it made it possible for people to subscribe to blogs.

Of course, they've since been taken over by a google version. But it still works in the same way. As long as you can add a couple of lines to the stylesheet (I think it was), it may have been more simple than that, in that you added the lines to one of your sidebars.

Have a look here. From memory, it was pretty straightforward.

I use Google Reader to subscribe to the blogs I actively follow. You can do this by either clicking on the orange icon in the url line in your browser or by clicking subscribe in google reader and copying and pasting the url. This way, I just go to Google Reader and it will show me if I have any unread posts. It saves a lot of clicking around time for me.

You will need a Google account (which you can create using any e-mail address, not just a google one), but it is really easy. If you "follow" blogs, you can import your following list from blogger into Google Reader without adding them all separately.
