Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Today is the 16th anniversary of our marriage. It just has me wondering what special things other people do on their anniversaries. We're pretty practical. We usually just go out to dinner and then finish up our Christmas shopping. My husband tells me we aren't doing that this year though. He wont tell me where we're going or anything. It's a surprise! What sort of things do you all do to celebrate wedding anniveraries?

Our 22nd anniversary is on the 20th and we typically do what you do....dinner and finish Christmas shopping.

Oh well, I love having a night out with my husband anytime and that's what we get for getting married so close to Christmas!

Happy Anniversary!!

Congratulations, Becky! And Lisa!

I don't have anything exciting to offer...since we've struggled financially for the past few years, we would sometimes do baked brie and cheese and wine....

After Joe Max was born (almost 5 years ago) he was actually baptized on our 5th wedding anniversary! That was a nice one!

I hope that others have more to offer than I. We will celebrate 10 years on Feb 3 so having some ideas will be handy.

Have fun!

Our's is Feb 12th, ( Maria, DD's birthday is the 3rd ) and we always do dinner. We also exchange small gifts... and DH has the tendency to surprise me too . Unfortunately, since we have no family around here, the kids are usually with us. But yes, we take a trip out of town for the day, go out to eat and give a special gift. I usually make him something

We are completely uninspiring. On our fifth anniversary my husband planned a night in downtown Honolulu (a 20 minute drive) without the kids. We were put in the smallest hotel room I had ever seen. The queen sized bed was against two walls! We did enjoy our time alone though, until my husband got hit by a car as we were walking to breakfast the next morning! He was fine, but that sort of killed the fun time away for me so we went home afterward. We don't give gifts but we do genereally try to pick one thing to buy together for the house.

I was just reading Milk Glass Moon and in there the couple has an anniversary diary. On their anniversary each year, they each write something to the other. I thought that was a neat idea.

When we were in our engaged encounter through our parish back in 1994, we had to do a notebook together where we wrote out our hopes and goals for the future. On our fifth anniversary, I pulled that out and made a card with our original goals and then spaces for new ones. I did this again at our ten year. It was pretty neat to go back and read and see how we've grown and changed as we've had children.

We usually go out to dinner. Our anniversary is also my birthday so we do usually celebrate by going out in some form or fashion.
