Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I hope this is true! We don't have any AG stuff yet but I just wasn't satisfied with the looks of the other dolls. Plus next year was going to be our big American History unit study and I was hoping Christmas could bring their favorite story dolls.

That's nice that they are trying to "save girlhood", but what about the I Can link? They can't have it both ways.

Very interesting! I wonder if the Girls, Inc. venture is really set to end next week?! That would be great news!

I thought Mary Ellen's rep told her it was a year, from september to September? SUre wish they would address the I Can issue head on in conjunction with this new campaign. Are they taking a stand for saving girlhood or not?

Thanks for the links to this article. It's nice to know that I'm a "right-leaning organizations called for a boycott of American Girl products because of the company's ties to Girls, Inc., a nonprofit organization that promotes academic success and leadership skills among girls and also supports abortion rights and tolerance of gay lifestyles."

Makes me and mine sound like a bunch of really bad folks because we don't want to "promote academic success and leadership" and BTW, "aboriton rights and tolerance of gay lifestyles". Geeee, imagine that!

If you look at the Vision Forum dolls or the ones JOan Stromberg has on her site -- Glory of America dolls -- I think we moms have many alternatives to AG!

Here's another article from the Life News website.

I am so happy to see them bowing to the pressure. We don't have to let the pro-abortion, secularists take over the world!

I read a great letter to the editor in the National Catholic Register today. It was good to read when it feels like the boycotts do no good. Excerpt:

"The boycott of American Girls may not change the corporate culture of Mattel. However, it will be a powerful pro-life witness by parents to their children.
Several years ago, General Mills was a contributor to Planned Parenthood. At that point, I completely stopped buying General Mills products. This included Cheerios cereal, which had been a stable for four young children. My boycott did not harm the General Mills bottom line. But it did provide an unforgettable lesson for my children.
Now they are teens on the verge of adulthood. They understand that being pro-life isn't something you do only when it is convenient. They know it is something yo live, day in and day out. They also tell me that giving up General Mills cereals helped them understand the sacrifices their principles sometimes require. "(Denise J. Hunnell, Fairfax Station, Virginia)
